Nylon will work good for this, and is easy to drill and insert weights into the outer rim.Good Luck with your project. Stealth
    Hi Stealth,

I have finite space available for the flywheel, and I need as much inertia as possible... a bit of weight on the rim isn't going to be enough! If I could make the entire thing from the core of a black hole then I would

Even if the whole flywheel was made from lead it's still going to be less than 3kg so the material needs to be very dense.

It may need to go over 8000rpm, so it needs to be perfectly balanced.

It is going to be very close to the stators so it needs to be non magnetic.

And it needs to be precisely 100mm diameter and approx 30mm thick with an 8mm hole in the center for the shaft.

I know what I need! I just don't know where to get it

Man, the only thing I would know to do in that situation is make the wheel out of nylon, and extend the rotor shaft away from the stator and add another weighted wheel that would not interfere with it. You could use the weights from a weightlifting set. You could stack as many as needed, but I don't know about balance or what type bearings you would need to handle that kind of wieght.Good luck. The acrylic I use for the rotors is supposed to be denser than nylon... thanks for the suggestion, but I need precisely what is in the spec... As tjnlsn255 said, any good machining shop should be able to make it easily...
