something to remember....my device is barely if at all magnetic......the magnetic lock i refer to is internal...just like a PMH.....the energy flowing off my device [current as in river] does have magnetic properties......it has many other properties as well, that will soon be unveiled .....david

The chain hanging in the wheel is to show that there is a force coming from the center, the axle, but the wind screwed up the effect. I could feel the push when I tried to hold the chain to the center. It seems that aluminum has a better resistance to the magnetism and effects the aluminum harder. Any large metal object applied to the axle area meets resistance. But once the resistance is overcome then there is no more resistance.
With the chain in place I'll try to SEE if I can generate magnetic current.

Yes, It just occurred to me, if you video the chain being dropped down into the center, and there is a push back, the chain will buckle a bit right there. It would have to be that the weight of a single link is lighter than the push back force for us to see it - but . . . if the force is mass dependent then it could be a fine balance trying to demonstrate the effect - But worth a try

David, a drawing would be helpful, I don't get how do you mean the coil inside the core. I have all types of resin available and I have also Iron oxide and powders and can do this test tomorrow, I just need a drawing
Ok, here is the mental image I get from what David posted:
Two halves of a mould, each halve has a U shaped channel in it which exits the same edge. When the two halves are put together, you just see two circles (holes) next to each other on the same edge. If you were to fill that mould up with IRON you would have the U shaped PMH when it hardened.
Now, take a long copper coil spring with a diameter smaller than that mold hole and put it into one of the holes and let it come out the other one. Some spacers attached at certain points would be good to keep it from touching the sides and well centered.
Now fill the mould with the Fe2O3 Slurry and let it setup.
Voila! You now have an inductor encased in an Fe2O3 PMH core

I have FeO and Fe2O3 and I must say that Fe2O3 (hematite) is attracted to magnets very weak, it is basically rust and has reddish orange color. But FeO and Fe3O4 is a black powder and sticks to magnets quite strong, about the same as iron fillings.
Anyway, I tried to get a ferrite core to lock on a steel rod, but it just wont stick. The ferrite core is an U shaped one like David shows. It is taken from an old flyback transformer. I did not have enough FeO powder so I jut picked up some iron/iron oxide powder from around my grinder using a magnet. I used a mold of two concentric plastic tubes on a plexiglass plate. I put two coils in the space between the tubes, both coils take half of the space available. Then I poured the slurry on the coils and poked around it so that the inside of the coils is filled. Now it cures. When this is done I will just saw the ring shaped core in half and will get two U shaped cores with a coil in each of them. Will post pictures soon.
did your mail come yet?....at the post office, i was asked how much it[pipe] was worth....i had to say nothing, knowing it was priceless!...jet, i must say, not only do you comprehend, you got talent too.....not to mention a cool "lab" to work in!!!.i am a little jealous....i was getting a steady output from my proto.... a friend was talking about tuning the coil? i am not sure what he was saying ....perhaps coil size to core size?.........david....also jet...are the mating surfaces flat? are you using square stock for the top?..make sure your mating surfaces are FLAT.....10 or 20 wraps of wire and 9vdc.....just 1 or 2 sparks should do.....david

No mail yet, it usually takes about 2 weeks from USA to my country. The mating surfaces of the U shaped ferrite core are flat and the contact with steel rod is good. The steel itself is not the problem, because it works fine on my other PMH's. Maybe there are many different types of ferrites? I used about 20 turns of wire on the coil and put 12v throgh, no lock at all. Weird. I will try some other ferrite cores from flyback transformer that I have. Several more hours and the iron oxide/resin core with the coil inside will be ready, I hope I will be able to get it to lock.
What output did you get?

You're probably right about the material - I just recall from somewhere that the material in Ferrite had something like that Fe203 in it.
@David,
Could you do a volt test on yours after chilling it in the freezer a while? Also a volt test while it is left in the sun to get hot.
I have a feeling you may have invented a continuous thermocouple sensitive to ambient heat. If you have, this is a long sought after thing and would certainly be applicable to offset global warming. Also, if you can measure the current.

The magnet sticks to this core material, but not as good as to iron or ferrite. The thing is that I can't get a decent electromagnet out of it, no matter what coils I energize, the ends of the core do not show any magnetism at all, nothing is attracted by them and my magnetic pole identifier does not show anything. Of course it also does not lock. I thing I need a resin mixture with a LOT more iron powder in it so that it is as thick as possible to work with. Thicker mixture will also be harder to get inside the coil. Will try this tomorrow.
