So volunteers are not even being allowed to wear their own personal respirators when they are doing clean-up or they lose their job.
And, when an official comes around then the clean-up crews scuttle around and look busy, then when the official leaves, 75% of those crews pack it in and leave.

So WTF is going on,... really.....does anybody care, or not?
Because if this is permitted to occur, then guess what?.....You can expect it to happen later on in your area where you live.

      Sounds good.

Have you seen this site related to Gravitational Energy Corporation?

          Ash

All is going well here. People very kind and swamping us with outings.Just thought I would flag a warning that you might pass on to friends contemplating visits to the Florida or the eastern area of the United States. There is a virtual media blackout here on how serious this oil disaster is in the Gulf and it seems that it is so serious that there is a possibility they will have to evacuate the entire Florida area and possibly soon.

It is not the oil that is the problem but the poisonous and radioactive gases leaking out with it. It is now 5 miles up into the atmosphere and the well pressure is an incredible 70,000 to 100,000 pounds per square inch so no man made device can shut it off.

Many people have been hospitalised and are sick from the fumes. The poisonous gas will be carried across Texas and adjoining states and up the east coast as far as New York by the first series of hurricanes in the Gulf, due in the next week or so and the threat is so great that millions coul die. A few associates of mine here with friends in the scientific world have warned Laura and I that we might not get home, however I think we will stay.It does sound very alarmist but I am getting this information from several insiders so I cannot ignore it. So if you know people intending a trip here, they should check with friends living in the area before undertaking the journey.

          Best regards,
          John

          • @Ash: Thanks for the warning and the info. Things definitely don't look good. I know this is upsetting, but don't let it carry over into other things in a negative way (as hard as that may be, and for good reason).

            Thanks,

                • The recent claim (being pushed by people like Richard Hoagland, the UFO researcher.. from "insider" information he received).... that there will be a giant bubble of methane that explodes and causes a horrible tsunami....

Is completely bogus and without merit.

Here's why. Using the commonly used calculation formula; "5,000 feet of water depth" has a water column pressure of 2,161 PSI at the ocean floor. There is very little or no free oxygen in the water there. This mean that there cannot be an "explosion".

The drill casing travels 2 more miles down from the well head site, to the actual deposits. This means that this "huge bubble" would have to find a way through the 2 miles of rock... Or only use the well itself to propagate. The problem with this is, that there cannot possibly be enough methane escaping, to create a huge enough bubble in a short enough time....

Because the only possible scenarios for explosion, means that the methane would have to come to the surface first. When it does, it is no longer pressurized but is at ambient. It could "burn", but not technically "explode". What COULD happen, is tiny bubbles of compressed methane rises, the bubbles expand as it does rise, until a big bubble reaches the surface and belches. But even this expansion due to lowering water column pressure is a relatively slow process.

Someone on Facebook tried to use the analogy of lots of bubbles coming to the surface causing "waves" and disturbances in a swimming pool, to explain how the huge bubbles could cause tsunamis... Well , all i can say is big bubbles in a swimming pool are several orders of magnitude "bigger" in relation to the TOTAL VOLUME of the pool, that these methane bubbles ever could be in relation to the total volume of the Gulf of Mexico... so they cannot cause a tsunami by themselves.

Also, there are claims that the sea bed in that area has risen 10 feet... this is given as proof of the "bubble" forming under the sea bed...

Well, SONAR can be off 0.2% (which is what we are talking here at 5k depth), especially when considering that the methane and oil present in the water can change the sound propagation speed through water slightly... Which is how SONAR values are calculated. I strongly suspect this is what is happening with the depth readings. They say they got these "new" reading by "using accurate GPS".. Well all that does is give you a 2-dimensional coordinate for the reading in Longitude and Latitude.. Big deal

So until someone can tell me how the hell a giant explosion can happen with no oxygen present under 2,160 PSI of water column pressure.... I will consider that to be another pile of B-S about this subject that tries to hide and confuse the REAL horror and criminality of it behind absurdities... Of which we see more and more every day.

                  • Voice of reason

Thank you Jibbguy for a voice of reason. I totally agree this oil spill is a very bad thing, but a lot of people seem to be using it as a reason to spout off a lot of hysterical nonsense. I read one article about BP burning live sea turtles with the oil they were burning off. I thought that was a horrible thing to do. Then I thought about it for a while and realized that I had been duped again. Sea turtles live in the sea. That is why we call them sea turtles. Any sea creature immediately dives for deeper water when they are threatened. I am a diver and have seen this many times. So if the sea turtles were threatened by fire they would dive for deeper water. Even if some of the oil were to cling to their shells it would not burn under water. Thanks again for trying to add a little sanity to a very upsetting situation.

                    • Deja Vu?

Incredibly, a very similar oil spill of massive proportions occurred in the Gulf of Mexico in 1979. The main difference is that it occurred in just 200 feet of water. Interestingly, that spill (Ikstock, or Ixtach) went on for months, and all of the very same efforts to stop the leak that have been tried on the BP well disaster which failed were also tried and failed during the Ikstock disaster. Ultimately, only drilling 2 relief wells was able to get the Ikstock well under control. What's even more interesting is that the driller of the Ikstock well was Sedco, which later used the name Trans Ocean for offshore drilling operations. Trans Ocean, of course, was the operator of the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform. Strange coincidence, isn't it? And why didn't Sedco/Transocean, and the entire oil industry for that matter, learn something from the Ikstock disaster about the necessity of using multi-stage failsafe measures? Why didn't the Department of Energy require such measures before issuing drilling permits? Many pertinent questions are left unanswered.

The more oil spills change, the more they stay the same. [VIDEO]

AN EXTRAORDINARY CRISIS REQUIRES AN EXTRAORDINARY RESPONSE – THE PEOPLE MUST ACT TO STOP THE GULF CATASTROPHE

1 million signatures are needed to begin a corporation charter to address BP beyond what is being done. We can do it. Class action people who do mandates have volunteered to use our signatures to help address this. Its easy - Name e-mail and country is easy at this link Panacea Petitions

A special thanks to all who have contributed information and suggestions, plus who continue to dig deep to show the extent of BP's negligence. Attacking the source is what we must do, the open source free energy community has a direct way we can do this, together with a corporation charter we can make sure the Renewable energy that's sort after includes our areas of research.

But this charter which we need 1 million signatures to fill, will prevent foreknowledge, inside of trading, judges with financial ties to approval permits, and also force insurance and have strict penalties. It will also make it mandatory that the renewable solution is to be used over chemicals, the corporation charter cuts the snake off at the head but also makes OUR renewable sustainable education inclusive, this otherwise would be neglected. One million signatures is possible and the unique EDUCATIONAL contribution the open source community can contribute means we are really attacking the source.

                            06.27.10, 09:00 AM EDT

TRIPOLI, Libya -- Libya will allow BP to begin drilling in its offshore deepwater region next month, despite the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the head of Libya's National Oil Co. said Sunday.

Shokri Ghanem, who serves as Libya's de facto oil minister, said the April explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig, and the subsequent spill, were "tragic," but the oil industry is also moving into "new frontiers."

"An accident will not stop us from digging in this new frontier," Ghanem said. "Life must go on, but we will learn a lot of lessons."

Ghanem's comments are the latest confirmation by the OPEC nation that it was planning to honor the contract it signed with BP in 2007 to drill in the Libyan deepwater region of the Mediterranean Sea.

BP has been battling sharp criticism over the incident which left 11 workers dead and millions of gallons of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico.Libya going ahead with BP drilling deal - Forbes.com
