N-Machine type devices? Why mot more?

Depend on where you live. I could probably get it done around $50 here. I wouldn't pay no more than 100 anywhere.
If you have any community colleges around alot of times they'll do the work for ya if they have a machining course.

Just call around first and see.

Thank you sir. Going in blind is the best way to get ripped off. Colleges of course why didnt I think of that. I live in the panhandle of Florida. 2 major universities and a CC. Will do.

There have been universities that use the huge drum version to create a pulse with about 100 volts and thousands of amps for rail gun experiments.

For anything of significant size, permanent magnets would get quite expensive.
