Hi Everyone,@Ted, When you hooked up the second set of coils did you flip the polarity so as to be opposite the first set of coils? This could be why it's not working out the way you expected as the coils would be fighting against each other from the point of view from the magnets.By the way thx for showing your motor results as this was exactly the type of arrangement that I envisioned in message post #111 on this thread.Anyway's,It's nice to see you guys putting in what I'm sure is alot of time and effort into producing such works of art.Peace out to all.-Gary

A prony brake is the best reality check. You'll never know how well a motor can do until you give it this simple test. Building one is pretty easy, so there is really no excuse for any serious motor builder not to have one.
I put a watt meter on the AC line feeding the motor's power supply. That way I can compare my total power expenditure against the output of the motor. There is nothing ambiguous about this method and it's accurate. I recommend it.

Hi Sky, this is not an idea nor is it a theory it is an actual real world explanation for the effects seen in the motor i built and still possess ...the most important thing you will ever do here is figure out the reversed half of the coil it is only when you can think at this level that you will be able to continue past it.
Understanding that changing the orientation of the coil and then changing the poles is simple its only when you figure out and understand what this is doing when aligned with a second coil in the standard configuration and how they are interacting to acheive this that you will start to truely understand the simplicity of all this stuff out there.
simply put, on the induction side the direction of the coil wind determines the direction of flow of electrons in the wire, turn it around they go the other way, place it in line with one not turned around and now you have half going one way and half going the other ....instead of the 2 halves or coils adding to each other they now cancel each other out and thus no lenz.
You will not see any improvement in the flux movement part of this til you sort the lenz because lenz must be eliminated before you will even be able to see this on a scope let alone figure out how to take advantage of it.
lenz is back emf while the aiding flux field is forward emf , the forward will simply be hidden by the bemf until you remove it.
There have been many replications round the world it works and it doesnt need anything to make it work other than the basic components of a pulse motor and once you understand it you will be able to apply it to just about any motor as the underlying practice is sound and therefore is not restricted by design or components used.

Hi garry, thanks for your thoughts. So can I get it to work as you say using the setup i have now, or should I have built it with the thinner coils flipped in orientation and back to back as you describe. What thickness was your center stator plate, meaning what gap distance was there between the floppy drive coils. My stator plate is 3/8" thick. If i have to alter the center stator plate I will, since I want to replicate what your describing and it appears Ted and I have not built the proper design. Let me know.

the first thing you have to understand is the reversed coil, for instance you can apply this as ben did using 2 seperate coils on a bike wheel if you had a north pass one while a south passed the other you would achieve the same thing since the coils would see induction in 2 directions ...this is without turning one coil if you turn one then you need to have like poles lpassing at the same time.
My motor had 5mm perspex plates so 10mm between coils but you wont see the added effect of the forward emf unless your magnets have their magnetic fields in contact with each other ...this causes the fields to stretch toward each other thus off centering the flux from the magnets ...when the coil fires the flux instantly looses its attraction to the other side and moves back to the magnet this in effect has the coil seeing a flux field moving away from it when lenz is expecting it to see one moving toward it eg the approaching magnet, simple, effective, repeatable and no rules or laws broken.
If you want to visualise this imagine 2 balloons as your magnets see what happens when you try and push them together this is magnets in repell mode and then blutac them together and pull them apart this is 2 magnets in attraction when the blutac lets go you will see them instantly return to their original shape and this is what the flux is doing in my motor.
Start with pairing the coils to get 0 output as a generator once you understand this and still have a running motor you will have effectively removed the generator from within the motor ...removing the generator itself is the first key to getting more output from your input.

Hi garry, thanks for the explanation. I have removed all 6 of my air-core coils and I am hot gluing my thinner 1/8" thick air-core coils in place, back to back with the air gap. So you had about .395 inches between coils and mine is .375 inches. It will be no problem for the permanent magnet fields to interact through the coils since they are 1" diameter neo's and each stack is 3/4" long. This will now be just about an exact replication, so will see how it goes.

Hi folks, here is the rebuilt stator, not as pretty, however it is what garry prescribes. I think I may be understanding what garry is saying regarding the flipping of the coils and it's relation to purely induced current and how it differentiates with the wiring and battery hookup. For now I'll be testing just these 2 coil pairs, since that's all I made so far. I will now put back together the motor for testing.

Hi folks, I fired up the motor again and it is running well. With only the 2 coil pairs for now, it is drawing more amps, each coil pair in parallel is about .5 ohms and a total of 1 ohms series. I'm not sure what to test for right now, though I am noticing the amp draw is not reducing upon speed up as much as it normally would. Garry, if you have any thoughts on what to look for to see if this is acting like your motor, let me know, thanks.

Hi again, ok I was holding the shaft not letting it ramp up in speed so thats why the amps were not reducing much, however of course it accelerates to a very high speed because the counter emf voltage is less at lower rpm's since the coils have less ohms, or so that's the logic. So, either the motor now is working according to garry, or it's just because the counter volts are only being generated at very high speeds and the input voltage balances the counter voltage at the higher speeds. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi gmeat, it does kick out voltage in pure generator mode, though the voltage is less since the coils are paired. I can't be sure about any forward aiding emf without oscilloscope and such, though it is obvious the paralleling of the coil pairs does add much more rpm, due to less counter voltage, it seems. In generator mode spinning by hand and measuring with dmm, i can muster almost 2 volts. Though with a full wave bridge off coils while motoring and running into a dmm shows almost same voltage as input, around 12 volts. Though if a 2400uf capacitor is hooked to bridge it climbs above 100 volts. Not sure what to make of these results, except to say, it still seems as though the counter emf is there.

Its not counter EMF, Thats good stuff, some kind of negative energy. I thought you said you didn't have scope so here's another test. Instead of using a bridge just use 1 diode off the collector of your transistor. Hook it back to the hot side of your run battery.
Does the motor slow down? Stay the same? or speed up? If it slows down take the diode and run it to secondary battery or that capacitor with a good load.
Does the motor speed up?
The Negative stuff is what you want to charge batteries with. On scope you'll see the spike like in a monopole but there more there . It grows. Put on a small battery on it and measure the temperature of the water.
It shows up in just about every motor if you got the motor timed right. Read this stuff on Adams Motor
It talks about how to time the curve so it shows up.
The anti Lenz effect shows up because of opposite effects in the energy. In a straight pulse motor, Like a North on North pusher. You pulse the motor so the north field collides with the magnets north. The field collapses forcing the power (You put in) out the diode The collapsing field converges on the wire inducing the negative charge. It creates an opposite charge which in turn creates a south field. The south field pulls the next North magnet in before you start all over.
It can happen in a lot of different arrangements. Its the timing that matters.
I got one that runs like that I'll film it and show you.
Cheers
Matt

My wiring of the coils is like this ...imagine a 8 where the top part of the 8 is one coil and the bottom the other with the power looking like + -8- -.
Each coil is a direct short circuit over the other in the pair like a figure 8 layout of a slot car set where the cross over does not touch but is where the power input is supplied, series does work in the righ aplication but if you are doing a replication then you need parallel to make it work.
As you can easily see it should be impossible to make a running motor with what is effectivly a short circuited coil in 100% generator mode and this only works because the paired coil counters the generator in the first coil, while the first coil equally counters the generator or bemf if you like in its mate.
