    The Argument Thread

This thread has been established for arguments.

To those who start threads, instead of permitting your thread to be cluttering up with contentious arguments, advise the parties to bring their arguments here, so they can settle the argument here, then they can return to your thread.

Place the following code in the first post of your thread to get started:

    HTML Code:
If you have an argument, please take it to http://www.energeticforum.com/renewable-energy/5972-argument-thread.html and settle your argument there. Once settled there, you can come back to this thread. We don't want this thread cluttered up with a bunch of contentious arguments. Thanks

    2. You come here from another thread to settle an argument.
    3. No name calling.
    4. No threats.
    5. No interfering in another parties' argument.
    6. Attempt to use logic and debating skills.
    7. Please don't post anything not related to an on-going argument.

    Example:

Somebody posts in a thread that you are stupid and your idea is stupid.

What you can do is partially quote him in that thread by posting this code in your post.

    HTML Code:
I don't want to see this thread cluttered up with our disagreement, I will post my response to you in http://www.energeticforum.com/renewable-energy/5972-argument-thread.html
Then you come to this thread, quote the post of the person who is arguing with you. Then you post your response beneath his quote.

For example, in your thread, you would post the following.

If this were an argument from another thread and I were one of the parties involved in the argument, here is how I might respond.

I don't think we can change the title as mere users. But I was just joking about changing it.

It is a fine line between sharing long held beliefs and keeping a good heated debate, and then having it degenerate down to personal attacks.

One of the things I have liked about this board is the balance that admins have taken to keep things in check. Yes admins make mistakes, yes patrons of this board have abused the system but overall there has been a means of people to disagree agreeably, not everyone remains happy, but that is normal. Not everyone is going to be happy.

I love a good debate, hate endless personal attacks.

I didn't like to see this thread get buried so quickly because it really is a good concept. I just think its too difficult for many to debate without getting into the "personal attacks." Best wishes to you.

This thread is an utter waste of time, and I myself am a complete muppet for wasting these precious few moments of my life coming here - life is too short.

Reminds me of the following sketch:

                  YouTube - Argument Clinic

                  who disagrees?
