Hi Karl,
I did, but the set-up was lousy. I used as little water as possible and it was in a skinny jam jar. I was unable to get the lighter close enough.
I have an idea to make the green stuff again and see if it is the stuff of a rechargeable battery or even a fuel cell, since it might be.
If I get some electricity out of it when I remove the battery, perhaps it is.
And, before I close it all up, I will try to pop the bubbles again.
thank you,
jeanna

Apparently the material for the catalyst keep getting better and better

The 8.45v dead 9v battery produced bubbles that made a soft pop. This is hydrogen I am sure because it is happening coming from the negative side of the battery.
The positive side gets covered in bubbles and also a grey green substance.
It is not the very bright green shown in the pictures of Nidihydroxide. I checked for boron compounds and they seem to be white, but I do not know these things.
Anyway it is not big enough to have enough amps to light a joule thief, but the bubbles on these 2 nickels after less than 2 minutes put out 0.82v as a battery.
I believe this is a fuel cell.
So, it makes me question this whole grand expense of the fuel cell, or maybe I just got lucky.
That has happened before!
OK, it is too bad this green stuff is probably toxic. I would like to mess around with this because it shows some hydroxy promise.
I'll see if the videos came out.

OK
enough of the video shows the bubbles well enough to be able to demonstrate this.
video showing 2 nickels making hydroxy and something green.
That is showing the electrolysis process.
As a fuel cell, it produces only 0.82v. It is not enough to light a joule thief.
I assume that with a normal sized pair of electrodes, the voltage would be higher than 0.82v. Maybe it would need to have several plates, (but I don't like toxic green nickel anymore than toxic chrome, so I do not know how I will proceed.)
I noticed after I had uploaded the video that there are definitely some bubble-like things falling to the bottom in the solution.
I wonder what this means.
Does this mean it is a self healing electrode catalyst?
thank you,
