how do i indentify wich one is the TV line o/p transistor?

Follow the HT cable down to the transformer. Beside it will be a big heatsink covered in fluff on there is the HT transistor. Unsolder it complete with heatsink if you can.

The TIP31 etc are only rated at about 40 volts 30 watts so they will blow easy if your coil returns too many volts. A TV transistor typical 100 watts 1500 volts rating and only cost about 1 eur/usd/quid more.

I tried four more transistors that i found in an old abandoned tv in the woods - still no success!!! just sparks and smoke from blown transistors.

I have a 2N 3904 sitting in a joule thief......i kinda like it where it is (i have no other 2n3904s....i blew them all in flyback experiments). Nonetheless, if you guys reckon it just might work, ill give it a try. If its highly unlikely, then i'll wait till the transistors ive ordered arrive, and try and find some others in old electrical equipment.

hello, one question, are you able to light 220V bulbs with your 19V input katcher?

1. The higher current rating of the transistor, the better.

2. The circuit works when transistor is closed most of the time

No, it is not. In fact, it's so far away from Kapanadze device, I'm not sure how you could see any similarities.
