would it be at all possible for you to control the frequency of your rotation by a music output? That would make a great visualization. Or have a steady frequency pulsed so each tap of the button gets you one rotation?

we have a guy arround here experienced in making sound software so i will try to ask him!!

but for shore it can be done... just need to replace my frequency generator circuit for the pc frequency generator!

here is an shot, maybe if i connect just the output of my pc soundcard (playing a sound) acting as a frequency generator.. then the music frequencys will me managing the device?

You would have to find a frequency you like that makes the discharge rotate at a slow enough pace, lets say 1 rotation every 1/4 second. Then have a switch that when you press it, it only stays closed for that time, no matter how long you hold it or let go. That way the discharge will circle the magnet completely, once, per tap. Then have more switches each with faster or slower times and frequencies, but the goal to have 1 full rotation per tap.

Then get a 555 timer flashing to the beat of a song to operate the switch, and each beat would bring forth a sheen of electricity.


One thing that I think would be easier would to have a plasma-metronome!

have a LARGE magnet setup with a SLOW rotation time, and several smaller ones that rotate at a division of the first one. so the smaller ones would rotate for example 4 times as fast, for a 4/4 beat. If you could somehow combine both the fast and slow onto one magnet that would be ideal, possibly a heterodyned frequency could do that.

Or, next idea, have the EARTH as the signal generator! Earth outputs (depending on your location and depth of rod) over 11 volts peak to peak at a VERY high frequency that constantly changes, so you would need a fast transistor, maybe a FET, but that would be interesting to see amplified and turned into radiant dancing around a magnet.
