Be careful what waste fuel you use.

    Hi guys,

You need to be cautious what kind of waste fuel you use. Many diesel engines have been ruined because of using waste vegetable oil as a fuel. Vegetable oil has long molecule chains of hydrocarbon. These will not burn completely even if heated to a high degree before injecting into the engine. The result is carbon buildup in the cylinders which will eventually destroy the engine. My son ruined his Jetta engine that way and knows someone who ruined a Mercedes engine the same way. Converting the waste oil to biodiesel is the only way to use waste oil if you want to get a long life from your diesel engine. I suspect some of the waste oil might do the same damage to a gasoline engine. I am all for using whatever way we can to save fuel but not at the cost of having to replace an engine.

    Good luck, Carroll

        Free Heat Waist oil

I live in a place that happens to get very cold...-40 and colder for months at a time. So like most people I like HEAT. I burn a lot of wood but there are times that I need some other form of heat. My family owns a hotel and guest house. We need to heat that place and we tried wood but it is very difficult to heat a big place on wood alone. Plus I want to not be tied to putting wood into the stove 24 7 and want to go away for extended times. I found that there was tons of bunker C fuel they used it to run the crude oil generator station in town. It is way thicker than summer diesel and is almost like paraffin wax when cold. There was also a lot of wast oil in the fuel. This was the stuff left over from cleaning the tanks...I could get tons of it … for free. So I decided to modify my oil boiler to run on it. The principal of what I did is to run a heating line into the tank to heat the fuel so it will flow into my building … then I made a pipe that ran through a pipe...I ran the hot water at 210 Deg around the fuel line going to the boiler. The line was about 8 ft long. I then filtered the hot fuel and there was a lot of water that would come out...I had to change the filter once a week. Then It went into the boiler. In order to start it I had a switch that would let it run on heating oil for start up and shut down...if I was going to stop using the boiler...if not I would never be able to start the boiler again. The point is it was not that hard to burn this wast oil that was going to be lost or destroyed. So free heat was not so bad last winter.
