  • H Bridge

    Hi folks,

    in my ongoing (aka never-ending lol ) quest.... i think i might need to use an H Bridge,

    gotoluc posted a circuit on here that was constructed by someone else ( cant remember the name, sorry )...but my question is this...

    does the H Bridge give you an "Actual" negative voltage as it flips from its positive voltage output......or does it simply flip the polarity/direction but still with an actual positive voltage?

    ie does it flip from this...

    +12V
    |
    )
    ) .<......coil
    )
    )
    |
    0 V

    to this...

    -12V
    |
    )
    )
    )
    |
    0 V

    or , does it flip from this...

    +12V
    |
    )
    )
    )
    |
    0 V

    to this...

    0 V
    |
    )
    )
    )
    |
    +12V

    Thanks,

    David. D

    Hi David,

    The answer is your second drawing, the polarity flips from

    +12V
    |
    )
    )
    )
    |
    0 V

    to this...

    0 V
    |
    )
    )
    )
    |
    +12V

    if you name the most negative point of your voltage source as zero. (it is actually the negative pole of your voltage source like a battery or a DC power supply but you reference it as zero). See here a good drawing on the switching states:

      Thanks gyula,

      i kind of figured it was that one, i wa sgetting confused by the "terminology" of negative.
