Here my exact implementation I made just now with a 4 terminal harddisk motor:

In this implementation, potentiometer value is critical and require at least 7.5V.

      Thank you @sucahyo

I will get the parts and begin to construct the circuit as soon as possible.

I built this circuit, in the three terminal version, without the charger, and was finally able to drive the brushless DC motor that I removed the controller board from. This build is incredibly fun to play with.

I bet the charger would work, too, because I put a neon bulb where the charger would be, and it lights. The spikes being generated by this combination are beautiful and clean.

        Super fun!

          Clarification

The "stingo bedini fan" circuit in the first post in the thread is the exact circuit I am running.

need help to build Stingo Bedini SSG Hdd

Finnally my imhotep's fan can running...

Because I can not found 1K potentiometer in my area, i was decided to use Sheldon Schematic,
but at that night... i have no 680 ohm resistor too ! so i am looking for the similar one from some faulty lamp's component,
I thought Green Resistor would be about 500 ohm plus... Oups...! I just check the color code value this morning on line, the value is just 5.1 Ohm !!!

It can not run by wall transformer 12v 500mAmp, I tried with my Speaker's adaptor 12v 2,28Amp and run smoothly, silence, not hot, fast enough and real cleanning the sulfate. Still running now after more than 24 hours, no hot, silence and more clean.

can I use my imhotep's fan to use stingo circuit ?

            1. I have 2N3055 not TIP 3055
            2. i have no TIP 2955 but i have Hanaya MDL 3088 and Hanaya MDL 2988 (our local transistor?).
            3. I Have no 1N4001 but 1N4002
            4. According to Stingo Bedini Fan circuit, is that true power wire and trigger wire are connected ? please explain to me where to connect exactly trigger, power wire (start and end for each of them) (tdk ada ket di gbr stingo bedini fan sirkuit, kurang jelas aja pak )

I am waiting for your replay to start my work to build stingo with hdd, thank you before and God bless.

PS. - I did not change the fan's wired ( not rewound)
            - i got my potensiometer 10K from friend now
            - i just read the others post before i want to post it, i just want to change my fan with hdd. I will put the magnets on it ( Bedini SSG) not using hdd's terminal

Thanks for the video . lol, what a large heatsink.

It is interesting that you can make it turn when it already oscillating at stop position. Mine is different, I have a feeling that you wire it differently than mine.... I turn out that I did not use the original three terminal, I split it into 4. I can only make it work with original three with joule thief version. Sorry for wrong info I give you before ....

But since you can make it run anyway, I guess wiring position do not matter. Can it turn on both direction? It seems to only run one way?

Thanks for the scope shot. In your implementation, do the output voltage / current is unrelated to the fan speed?

The reason I doubt the output on my harddisk (only?) implementation is because I found that using one diode method would produce higher output than my cap isolated FWBR version. My conclusion from this the radiant output also capture the voltage generated by coil induction from the magnet. Radiant + generator output.

Yes, but you may need to reverse one wire. (PS dibalik kabel yang satunya)

              1. no problem.
              2. I don't know, I only tried TIP32C, 2SB507. If it is a PNP switching transistor, just try it.
              3. No problem for small output. But for >50mA output you need 2Amp diode. Scrap from broken power supply.
              4. I don't know which one is which. Imhotep fan require 4 terminal. 2 terminal for each wire wound. each wire wound is represented as coil in the diagram. PS tukar tukar koneksi kabel sampai jalan ya.

Me too. I just relocated the internal wiring to separate them into two unconnected wiring, to make 4 terminal.

Here is the version with simple one diode recovery for battery charging. You can see FWBR version at my other thread.

I built the circuit that uses just two outputs to run a harddisk because when I tried to solder three cables to the hardisk motor, the solder got on the adjacent cables.

So I soldered 1 cable at one end and another to the other end and tried to run it with a circuit with transistors tip 41A and tip 42A that I could find locally.

                I could not find 2955.

The tip 42A got real hot and the motor did not work after spiining its disk with the hand.

The wires got disconnected by themselves also.

I need to device a strong connection between the circuit and the hardisk using three wires and adding a heatsink to the PNP transistor.

                Question:
Is it normal that this Pnp transistor get so hot?

No. Even running at 2 amp I only heat up the NPN. PNP can heat up but not very hot if you have low resistance value to the base. If it become very hot then it is possible that it already broken. test with ohmmeter resistance between collector and emitter (leg 2 and 3?), it should be infinite.

The potentiometer position is very critical. and make sure that the harddisk has only three terminal for two wire version.

                    I made a mistake.

The transistor that is getting hot is the NPN.
It is just that I put it behind the PNP to join the emtter of the PNP
With the base of the NPN and that place is PNP on the schematic.

I see. It is normal for the NPN to get hot. It will get hot proportionally with the input current. I always use heatsink for the NPN.

Same thing I do to place it like that .

Thank You for reply, my stingo can running now with brushless DC motor as one coil and can charge the battery too...
next will trying with hdd and fan...

but not good result in charging... may be it depend on coil (mungkin koil hrs tepat) i am using dc motor from aquarium airpump (aerator batere), which one is the last and the best for charger ? 2 stingo with imhotep relay ? (aku buat yg paling bagus aja, udah gt mau ke lampu emergen led dgn JT, skemanya dunk mas..) thank you mr Sucahyo...

Notice that the circuit do two things:
                              - to rotate motor
                              - to charge a battery / power a load

You will get better charging with reduced motor speed, or vise versa (Bila motornya berputar cepat, chargingnya berkurang, atau sebaliknya).

For the best charger version, look the other thread

I cancel my suggestion to also use imhotep relay charger too, my battery no longer hold charge. I have to short it with a coil to restore charge.

With the complete version of stingo I can use harddisk coil to lit a neon bulb. I think the circuit see it as bifilar coil.
