The hand movement is where the energy is coming from.
If the magnet was fixed it would not work.

Why not put springs on the magnet that is in his hands. That way it could move the way he has it in his hands and still operate that way while being held by a bracket. If you have thought it was of merit then try it. It looks like it is very simple to build.
Yes I saw this movie too, but I don't think its air. Look how it alternates back and forth from up to down before it picks a direction and accelerates. Honestly that black electric tape would give way before it gets too fast... but based on the arrangement of magnets alone, I have not tried it so therefore don't know if it would work, but I would imagine it would hit a gate, like all the other magnet motors.
Basically the poles are at the sides, for both the rotor and stator. The rotor's magnets start where the last line left off, maybe a little bit of a space. There would be no overlapping. Looking at the video, maybe he is using attraction mode on the right side, and repulsion mode on the left?
How this might be possible is his magnet in his hand might be a "monopole" arrangement with the bucking portion in the middle using non magnetized steel that looks like a magnet. N s (steel) s N.. Or who knows. I asked the guy on U tube and he didnt reply. Also it looks like he is using his hand a little to shake it left and right, but that could be the magnetic effects.
You gotta imagine, for a motor so simple, for the inventor to make the time to make a video, yet ignore audio and chatter, or even ignore basic questions, or not even find a forum to enlighten, this may be in the hoax category.

I'll go with what gotoluc suggested. If the magnet is fixed it will not spin continuously. Just as the rotor completes a 360 turn you encounter a back magnet force that slows the forward motion. Tom Beardon talked about this in one of his videos.
