making batteries for solar panels

Hi,
I have been looking for information about making (and in the future recycling) my own batteries for my solar system.
But i cannot find proper information on the net or on this forum.
Anyone has experience or knows where i can find information?
I have a small 600 watt system in case this might be important.

Thank you very much.
This information is very usefull.
I also have a couple baterries,
trojan batteries hooked up to my system,
but they arent working well anymore,
maybe its easier to use those and make them working again,
by changing some parts or the acid or so, then make new ones?
