  • Question on size of coil

My SSG is working (but with knackered batteries). Coil is bifilar circa 40 turns (whole 250g reel) of 20 swg and 24 sw as trigger.

My question is what effect would say doubling the number of turns have (apart from doubling the coil resistance). Ultimately I guess its about the optimum size for power out.

    Thoughts ?

    Should read 480 turns !!

Bedini now sells pre-wound coils. You can get them up to 5-filar with the wire twisted to increase efficiency. However even for his very large 10 coil machine I think the indicidual strands are still only around 200 ft. not sure of the weight that would translate into. I do think he is using 18awg for his power windings at that size though. Good luck. Be sure to get the basics before you start changing a bunch of things. It is easy to get discouraged, and waste a lot of money in the process, by not going slow. The purpose of the ssg was to show that at the end of a (relatively long) experiment there is extra energy in the batteries. Where did it come from. Its in the batteries, it cant me measured in the circuit.
