  • optical encoder help

    Hi all,

has anybody had any experience either with the component in this link and how to wire it up...

    Photo Reflector SYCR102 : Photodiodes : Maplin

or, if not, than a simple way to make an optical "encoder" ( like the one they used in the steorn demo machine ).... so that i can have a disk with black parts & white parts on it and use those to control the ON/OFF duty.

I have no experience AT ALL with this component or any other optical component of this type, so any help would be appreciated.

btw, there is a circuit diagram on the above link......but it doesnt make sense to me.

    Thanks,

    David. D

For once, i actually get to answer one of my own questions before Gyulasun does

    this link..
    RevMaster - A Simple Tachometer

about 1/4 the way down is a circuit diagram, top left of that diagram is a lil circuit for the SY CR102 using 12V...

i just tested it and it works great... get 12V out when uncovered....drops to about 0.2V when covered

now i can tes my own idea....about re-gauging magnets
