  • Dual Powered Unbalanced Gravity Wheel With Gravity Water Powered Assist

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Hi folks, Thought I would share this idea I had the other day, though I have not built it so I can't say how well it would work. Though the idea is to use a water pump to pump water up from a capture tank into a storage tank to be released using a proper nozzle that would allow enough flow to keep system going.
The water then impacts shaped cups at end of arms with weights attached and provides the re-gauging to keep the unbalanced wheel rotating properly and outputting shaft power.
The intent is to have the water pump operated by a battery and a generator attached to the unbalanced wheel and then some of the generated energy can recharge the battery powering the water pump, in hopes of keeping the system self running.
Since I think these unbalanced wheels have trouble maintaining rotation, that is why I thought of using gravity again to help power the wheel.
Your thoughts on this idea are greatly welcome.

If you had a low enough electrical consumption water pump that could have enough volume to keep the tank full enough to run in the day time and still have enough left over in the tank for night time would be fantastic. Then the whole thing may be ran by a solar cell. Generation during day and continue into the night. This wold take a pretty good sized upper tank though.

Hi redrichie, thanks for the reply and your ideas. Though I thought about using a solar panel, the hope is that it would not even be needed and the machine would recharge say a second battery and when fully charged swap out the first battery to then recharge it, while at the same time outputting energy to another load from the generator attached to unbalanced wheel, possibly making it self sustaining using only gravity power. Though sure it could be augmented with a solar panel during the day. Thanks for your interest. Do you see this as being a usable and/or workable idea, say on a farm or tucked away behind someones house.

        Nice Idea

I got the same idea this evening and started to google it. I came upon your beautiful illustration and it pictures the idea very well. I believe this idea will work as long as the pump consumes a small enough fraction of the energy generated to make it practical.

This could drive a DC motor which could in turn be connected to a charge controller to charge batteries. The pump itself could run directly off whatever inverter would have been connected to the batteries or directly off the mill. Great idea!

I think I am going to start looking for components to test it out.

Hi corpie, thanks for the reply, interest and the kind words.
We're all from and made of the same source energy, so it does not surprise me that you had the same idea, hehe.
I'm making experiments on a different project at the moment.
I also would like to try this design out, maybe some day.
If you do try to build this, I look forward to any results you may have.
In hopes that it works for you or anyone else as well.

Why not just use magnets passing a coil to charge caps
then dump caps to a motor to turn the wheel???

you should have a look at the following post as an added force to your apparatus

How about using a "hydraulic ram" for the pump?

Hi folks, thanks for all the replies and good ideas.
I had another idea, instead of using water, air movement might also work to assist the unbalanced wheel to rotate and would be much easier to build.
I remember seeing a video of an unbalanced wheel, where a cat like whisker was used to push the arms out a little bit at around the 2 o'clock position.
As is shown in my newest ideas, anything from outside air blowing, to bellows with a weight periodically placed on top, pc fan or any efficient source of air movement might work.
Of course the only way of knowing if we can achieve a surplus of energy from these methods is to build and see.

I was thinking something similiar, by connecting a pump to the arm of each weight and using a hydraulic motor to pump the water, ....

You could also add another wheel on the same axis and use it as a wurtz pump to assist the pump.
