If such a thing happens it is for a good reason. We are currently destroying the planet by the way of our life, just look at our cities, with pollution leading to acid rain, or destroying jungles to build cities or roads or building our own stuff.
This kind of attitude we have has to change in order to get a harmonious life on this planet. So if we don't stop our non-harmonious technologies with planet Earth, it might be protected by sun, which gives life to its planets. (The power plants are one the most polluting industries we have, which may be to main target of solar flares) Our cars would stop functioning as their ECU will go off, our computers will die, etc ... .
If we assume that everything happens for a reason, then there might be a very good reason to a solar flare. It might stop us and make us think for a new type of technology which is in tune with life.
While we can consider protecting our equipment by aluminium foil ...

On a serious note, i bet there will be more "buzzing" around in the skies then solar flares, we are going to get a high powered telescope and film,bet there will be a few UFO's since its a rare astronomical...event..Comment
