Implementing an alternative energy system in the US

As I am sure you are aware the time to implement an alternative energy system in the US is now. Currently there is some innovation and many, if not most people, recognize the need to move toward alternatives rapidly. Much of the ongoing discussion is fragmented and does not not address the need to implement the policy and regulatory measures required to move from where we are into the alternative energy economy we must develop. There is a great deal of inertia in the US politics.
