How to turn plastic waste into diesel fuel cheaply

Jose's link to the Discover article about Changing World Technologies is an interesting one. The absurdly grandiose title of the company should have given us a hint.
2003. The company was on a campaign to attract investors, promises of massive profits, inflated estimates, ignored costs, ridiculous hype etc.
2005 The cracks were starting to show. The Carthage plant could not produce even half the fuel it promised and the quality was so low it had to be sold cheap as bunker oil.
2009. The company went bankrupt and the plant closed.
2011 . The plant reopened briefly under new management but was closed because of objections to the foul smell and polluted local waterways.
Lesson... If something seems too good to be true, then it almost certainly is.

Hi all,
Just got done reading all 87 pages and now I can post. I have a question.
I have a lot of septic solids and can they be used as fuel? Also a dairy farm near by and there is a lot of Cow ****, could that also be used as fuel? I do not recall any one talking about this in past post. Also there is a local butcher house that has a lot of animal part and hides that are for the taking. Could that be used also as fuel?
going to start working on a small unit made out of LPG tanks that I have which are out dated. I will be a 7gal tank and want to use the Rocket mass stove fire box to heat it and use the heat from it to heat my green house in the winter time when i make fuel.
Hope I get some feed back and this is a great site!

Regards Hoske.I have been running various blends of waste oils and unleaded gasoline in a 1983 Chevy G-20 van with a 6.2L diesel V-8 engine, with a Stanadyne Rotary DB2 IP since Feb, 2007. I have started the engine with no difficulty and no block heater on an 80/20 (WVO/gas) blend down to 0F (-18c). I have found that by blending as little as 15% gasoline in the summer, and as much as 50% in the winter, my engine starts and runs as if it was running on diesel fuel.

Hard to believe that smth like this can be done. If it is possible to produce diesel at price of 17 cents why not put this device into mass production?

Has anyone tried wood chips for a feed stock rather than plastic? In my area there are several companies starting to produce oil from plastics so feed stocks are very hard to find. Wood chips are readily available and will come to me free of charge.

Any idea about the length of copper coil required and must the coil be cooled in a water jacket.
Notice some folks talk about viewing a video, where do i access this pls.

Hi,seems i posted incorrectly, sorry, hope this works.I have recently been reading this great site and decided to give it a go.
I have purchased a 150ltr vessel, which will be heated with lpg gas burner to 350-400deg C.a copper coil will vent from the top, collecting the gases and passed through a water cooled coil.will this result in the required diesel to power a car? seems to good to be true.
Can you advise on the length of cooling coil required.i am using a 20mm diameter copper pipe.
Also some of your viewers seem to have watched a video, where does one access this pls?
Regards.
