  • DIY Polaroid x-raying with a tv!

Not free energy, but useful for DIYers, and if you want to see what's in that potting in that mysterious electronic device

So I've read that older CRT monitors give off x-rays since the glass wasn't built thick enough. And I'm pretty certain that modern ones can too if the voltage is too high, or if the power is turned on or off too fast (I'm really suspicious of flashy things on the tv, and I can feel a bad sensation on my body from it), so I thought, "I wonder if you can take x-rays with Polaroid film". Sure enough, people have done it!

here's a link to a simple way to do it, with some nice x-ray Polaroid samples
    Polaroid x-ray radiographs

    To summarize:
-Take a picture of nothing, to allow the rollers to release the film development chemicals. Keep it out of the light.
-Within 20 seconds, while the chemicals are active, take your x-ray!

    It's that simple!

I figure a small 4 or 5 inch portable black and white t.v. with a voltage multiplier of a few stages between the flyback h.v. lead and the monitor would work great!

oh, and of course, DANGER DANGER DANGER!!!! Don't be stupid with this thing! But you know that already.

Didn't they stop making Polaroid film recently. And I think what's left if you can find it is extremely expensive.

yes, but Ebay has lots to offer still, and there are other companies still making it, such as Impossible, which bought the kodak factory and recently started production again with a new version. Plus, I'd imagine the medical industry uses a similar type thing specifically for x-rays, so this tech won't go away any time soon

      Edit:
check this deal out: Physicians Choice 7"x17" PPG Xray Film Green Sensitive - eBay (item 290374551437 end time Jan-20-11 05:27:46 PST)
      100pack 7in.x17in xray film! $20 w/$12 shipping

but I guess you have to develop it.... I'll keep looking, maybe they make instant x-ray film!

you might want to enclose the tv in a lead and concrete box.... not hard or expensive to make but might be worth it.
