It seems they always use it near a mountain. What worries me is I wonder if it is wise to "massage" active mountain with heavily vibrating water pipe. Earth known to enhance vibration. There are already some people concern with geothermal connection with earth quake. The earth quake can break the pipe, or maybe worse, break all the house at some radius. Or maybe just a couple of small personal massage of everyone on top.
Naturally, top scientist do not concern with the side effect. Let the earth quake pass and hopefully the pipe still intact for another hundreds of year of utilization....
That's very interesting. This is the first I have heard of this. Is there an example you can cite of an earthquake that was believed to be triggered by a geothermal well?
What make me worry is also because I live in a place where three continent slope meet. A place where earthquate happen often naturally. But recently the number is excalating ever since the big 2004 tsunami. Every active mountain in Java is now coughing dust, no sign of stopping yet. I am getting scarrier when reading there are already testing of geothermal here.
