    thanks for the photos.

Why the different sizes? Does the different magntes proportions matter?

Could the rotor go uphill if you pick up one of the extremes of the device?
If so you could bend the extrem upward and make the rotor go down in a higher track so it goes back to the beginning of the track and close the loop.

      bugler,

If only it were so easy like that... The moment you approach in building a closed path everything changes and then you are there and do not understand.
But perhaps with this very interesting approach, it can be tricked. Or just combining another 'gate-like' arrangement at the end of the curved track to enter again to the starting place by a loss of only a small momentum, perhaps...

        Some basic Theory

The Exchange Forces; Strong and Weak, Gravitational Interactions, Magnetic and other forces conveyed through space are obviously caused and exist in an environment acting according to Laws. Granted, there is chaos, yet there is also order. Empty space is not so void of physical properties, this vacuum is quite active. Quantum Electrodynamics clearly tells us that. The propagation of electromagnetic fields within the very active universal-environment extends everywhere and is seemingly endless. The galactic masses contain electric charges; electrons and protons exist in all atoms.

When these charges move, or if the electrons are accelerated, magnetic moments then induce back electric charges, which again induce a second generation in alternating phases per Lenz law, and so on. These alternating phases of induction, plus the difference of angles, following the rule of current flow between the two energies would cause everything to spin and spiral. This is how a galactic spiral is initially formed. Can you deny the existence or these actions?

I suspect that spatial energy can be extracted with and through magnetic devices. This force can be used without the associated problematic pole lock-up or magnetic back-drag experienced by current conventional means. The coefficient-of-performance in excess of one (COP>1), as it's currently represented is possible.

On a side note, the “brass” rotor and brass within the track is the better selection of alloys as well.
          Dean,

I'm really impressed. Keep up the good work. I'm trying to understand the forces involved, so this video may help to explain why brass is the better selection of alloys for the rotor and within the track. Etimple, a member of Steorn's SKDB, demonstrates how a steel bolt along a brass rod will levitate. The strange thing about this is that it becomes a magnet when exposed to the field below it. When inverted it does not fall off the rod either. If the steel bolt is pushed too hard, then it overcomes the levitating repulsion force and sticks to the bottom next to the magnets.

Have you tried to use pyrolytic carbon or bismuth as a substitute for the brass components, and if not, do you think the pyrolytic carbon or bismuth may be a better choice than brass after watching the Etimple video? The rotor and the rods within the track can easily be made from bismuth. Here's a video of Clanzer making some bismuth toroids. Either way, it doesn't matter, because the brass components appear to be performing well for your configurations. I know, "if its not broke, then don't fix it". Anyways, I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

[Edit:] The Etimple video link I first posted was bad, but I fixed the error in the link. The link works now.

          Thanks,

            circular and beyond...

Bugler, I’ve tested it with at least a 30-degree upward slope with good success. I’ve also built flat tracks with 45 degree curves that it handles fine as well. It seems to be a very smooth succession of gates that pass the rotor seamlessly from one to another. I would speculate, what you suggest is possible.

Measuring speed, it’s always constant, no acceleration or momentum seems to exist, implying it may continue passing from gate-to-gate. I’ve built longer, and longer tracks in an effort to confirm this. Six meters (down and back) having been the longest without effort. Certainly there is room for improvement as well. As you can see from an earlier post I have begun on a circular version for testing.

Personally I think the most important item to learn from this is: we can manipulate magnetic fields, and change (control) symmetry. Put the forces where we want them, control the strength; add many secondary electromagnetic fields, and more, all without outside power. Breaking symmetry is the real issue in permanent magnets, IMO. Your thoughts?

              bismuth and stuff

GB, I have worked extensively with bismuth and pyrolytic graphite – because I am fascinated with levitation. I have used both in experiments with this design, but without success. The brass in the rotor and in the track acts as conductor, neither of these materials would do that. That’s not to say, there is not a way to improve upon and incorporate these materials.

The brass also adds something else, when used in the interior of the track. I initially used them as “guides” to line up so many PMs. Later when I swapped some out with other materials like plastic or aluminum, the results were different. I’m not sure why. I’ve made a serious effort to research and attempt to add theory to the results, yet some things still remain a mystery to me.

                Brass

The brass does seem to have a quality about it. It's a conductor, but not a real good one, it also displays properties like aluminum - but not exaxtly the same. It's almost a "1" in permeability I beleive, and also can show eddy current reactions. Not sure why it works the best.

The different length magnets balance the amount of flux strength, and where the patterns form. Simply many FEMMs for theory, and moving them around for performce, lead to the current balance. It can be done several ways, this is simply the best "so far".

The magnetic photon does possess effective-mass and energy. Symmetry can be broken, replaced with anisotropy and vector zero can be overcome. Work can be performed without the violation of Thermodynamic Laws.

However, the second Law of Thermodynamics has known and accepted violations where negative entropy is produced temporarily, including the statistical fluctuations of an equilibrium many-particle system. Nor is it in violation of the Energy Conservation Law, the current assumption is simply incorrect. IMO

The virtual equal and opposite actions can be nullified or modified. Within the realm of physics definitions; useful work can be performed such as displacement of a rotor in respect to a stator, and to produce unidirectional propelling forces.

The structure of electrons, protons, and atoms are a continuously rotating system at the very basic level of the Universe. The active universal-environment is achieved, since the ratio of energy out, versus energy input has already exceeded unity. IMO

                    Dean,

Thanks for the quick reply. Your answer was very helpful in allowing me to understand the interactions in your setup a little better.

                      basic premise...

Permanent magnets always introduce a balance in forces, a perfect symmetry. Just as much pull as push, drag as attraction, lock as total repel. No problem with electromagnets, we just turn them on and off, and make them stronger or weaker as the design requires (at the cost of power of course).

However, we CAN introduce electromagnetic fields to a permanent magnet field without contributing any power. Allowing us to manipulate the forces in our favor. At least five forward motion torque forces are introduced in this setup. Allowing forward motion to occur (once movement commences allowing this to happen). It does not exist until movement.

There’s probably more going on here as well, still beyond my comprehension. My finite mind continues to try and comprehend the infinite.

I think this is demonstrated best with seeing the obvious lock and excessive drag. Then witnessing the complete fluid movement, once motion begins. Everything changes. A quick look at the video reveals this easily. I don't have all the answers, there are many of you out there, more knowledgable than I in these matters.

Words often fall short in attempting to explain something. However, I do think there are some major clues offered here for us to further unlock.

                                symmetry

With the appropriate geometry and by applying additional magnetic fields to select permanent magnetic fields. Instead of the action slowing down the system that created it, the reaction could add energy to the system. This is accomplished by changing the magnitude of one or more potentials. Change of a single potential is an asymmetrical change, and it also changes the net force field.

The new force field can drive additional electron current, contributing some net useful work with the energy taken from the universal-environment (vacuum), by the creating of an asymmetric action. Lee and Yang received the Nobel Prize for their prediction of broken symmetry, including that of opposite charges and therefore of any source or dipole. One cannot deny this.
