  • Tin As Magnetic Shielding?

    One Way Magnetic Shielding - The Holy Grail
    I have simple question. After I seen that youtube had terminated all of the account by Rooney I like to ask here - Has anyone tryed to do this?

    Tin is not a magnetisable metal. I tryed to use Bismuth aluminium before was no use. What made this guy think that a sheet of Tin would shield a pole with rubber laying?

    Hi robur,

    I remember some of Rooney video back then and I think the word 'tin' is not the pure tin material you think which is not magnetizable indeed. The tin Rooney used is iron sheet which is tinned on its surface so not pure tin, ok? This word is also used to refer to the magnetizable metal into which preserved food is stored (tinned can).

    By the way, he opened another video channel a year ago or so, I cannot recall it at the moment but unfortunately he has not shown further development since then.

      @robur - gyula is correct. While Roney originally referred to the sheet metal he uses as tin, it was actually galvanized sheet metal that he found in the roofing flashing section at Home Depot, and is definitely attracted to a magnetic field. White tin, the metallic form of tin that we commony think of, is paramagnetic and thus attracted to a magnetic field, while gray tin, which is actually a powdery substance with no metallic property, is diamagnetic and repelled by a magnetic field.

      The two Roney videos showing his shielding method are shown as follows:

      A demo of the method is shown here. The demo shows 5 rotor magnets moving past a shielded stator magnet. While the demo appears to be successful, the method fails when more and more rotor magnets are added. Thus, Roney's claim to this method being "the Holy Grail of magnetic shielding" is a rather lofty one. It does work to an extent, though, so is useful for experimentation if you would like to give it a go.

      The Contoured Runway Plates video actually uses a method developed many years ago by John Bedini and friends for a magnetic motor that did work, but which was considered by John as unable to serve any truly useful purpose, since even when best set up it would only limp along. A plan diagram for that motor is shown here. I told Roney about this, and sent him the Bedini diagram when he first introduced his Countoured Runway Plate video, but he never replied. He did, however, change the plate countour angle to narrow down closer to the rotor at the tail end, as in the Bedini diagram, which I advised him would be more advantageous than doing it the other way around - which is how it was set up in his original RUNWAY PLATE video (and which appears to have been replaced by this video).
