Thanks for all the practical tips! this is really neat, and definitely falls inline with the "home brew" theme.

Today I am remaking certain parts, and will post pictures of the build so far, and maybe get some suggestions.

          Hiya Guys

This thread interests me greatly as my Father has worked in the water treatment, waste water industry for over 40 years.

Over here in Scotland we are reputed to have the finest fresh water in the world, hence the Whiskey industry! Well all i can taste when drinking Scottish water is chlorine, yuk! when i run any decent volume of water like running a bath or filling my dogs bowl all i can smell is chlorine. I have spoken to my father about this many, many times and he has said to me that I should not be able to smell or taste anything from the water and perhaps i am particulary sensitive to it.
At his home,he has a resevoir tank in his attic so the chlorine can be passed of as a gas leaving de-chlorinated water behind whereas in my home (an appartment block) we have no such tank and the water comes straight from mains. Anyway it has got to the point of myself now running any drinking water the night before usage to allow the chlorine out. I feel sometimes that this is akin to the peoples of the non-developed world having to collect water!

so anyway, over the last year or so the corporation he works for have been changing their water treatment systems, pump stations etc, now there are fewer pump stations and the new ones are computer operated and far smaller than before, the treatment centers are fewer and smaller than before oh and computer operated (this has all cost many jobs!) but the most interesting thing about the recent changes is how the new treatment centers work - Capacitive De-Ionization

anyway here are some links on this tech!

So could this not be made for little money and small enough for home usage?

          keep up the great work!

          Best regards - Jay
