  • 6 volt lead acid battery

I don't know if I'm in the right forum. I have a vintage Harley davidson motorcycle. The 6 volt lead acid batteries available from the far east are unreliable, but are the only option for replacements. Is it possible to make a high quality battery in my workshop? Are there any resources available to a hobbyist? I Googled custom made lead acid battery and came upon this forum. The postings seem to be quite knowledgable. Please advise.
    Thank you

Yes, you're definitely in the right place. Could you post a link to the battery or its picture so I can have a look?
What makes a good or poor battery is the plate material, plate total surface and electrolyte. I've work with poor batteries and they became a very decent ones after treating with radiant charging methods. I've seen increase in the overall capacity which exceeded the new battery off the shelf. Some of mine are over 10 years old and should be already dead three times.
It is possible to make new cells and fit in the casing but there might be easier solution - formatting with radiant.
