      Memorial Day

I spent my weekend with Dannion Brinkley talking about War being
      Unthinkable.

There is a local VA hospital here and a few years ago,
I spent Memorial Day sitting there just listening to some of the Vets.
They really need people to talk to - it means so much to them when
      someone just lends an ear.

Dannion is the founder of the Twilight Brigade (used to be called Compassion
in Action) and this organization is the largest hospice organization there
is helping dying veterans not be alone when they finally pass over.

I've known Dannion for about 10 years and he is hard core true to his
mission. I'm not a volunteer in the hospice but I do support what he does
      in other ways.

Being a volunteer is an excellent way to support the Veterans - learn
more by visiting his website - here is the page about volunteering:
The Twilight Brigade - Death, Dying and End of Life Support - Serve

I know many of the volunteers here and it is one of the most if not the
most fulfilling thing they have done in their lives. Please spread the word
about Dannion's organization - this kind of work is desperately needed!

My own father is an Air Force veteran and is over 100% disabled so I'm
      partial to the cause.
      Sincerely,
      Aaron Murakami

        Veterans

My former shift commander at the prison served two tours in the Marine Corp. She is now the director of Veteran Affairs her in Erie County.
She says the biggest need that older vets need is simply someone to talk to and visit. She says many in our local soldiers and saliors home are forgotten. So atleast once amonth we make it a point to visit the home and just visit and talk to them.
I am sure there is a VA hospital of soldiers home near you. So if you could nake even a ltiile time for them I am certain they would apreciate it
