Plasma has a phantom diode built in.

This video, Scalar waves / Ruhmkorff coil / Part 8, shows the non-linear behavior of plasma including hysteresis, plasmic diode bias, varactor and negative differential resistor behavior. The other video segments can be found on Selfonlypath's YouTube Channel.

A plasma has a phantom diode built in. Not a perfect one as used in the semiconductor industry, but enough diode effect to not let same current forward versus reverse. Plasmoids is a promising area of research IMO and may be fruitful.
