          • From: Seekers Of Wisdom - Nicolas Flamel

The Philosopher’s stone, a magical substance created by the Ancient Egyptian priests. It is said to be able to transform any metallic substance into pure gold (also called the transmutation of metals). Not only that, the Philosopher’s stone is said to be used to make “the Elixir of life”. This elixir is a sort of drink able to make whoever drinks it live much longer than usual. Possessing this marvelous stone means unlimited life and wealth. But does it really exist?

In 1330, according to records, a man was born. His name was Nicolas Flamel. Flamel was a bookseller at Saint-Jacques la Boucherie in Paris, that’s what everyone knew about him other than he was extremely generous that they named a street in France after him: “Rue Nicolas Flamel”. But this man had a secret ambition that only he and his wife Pernelle knew about. He was in a search for the philosopher’s stone.

One night, as he describes in his diaries, an angel visited him with a book in his hands and said: “Look well at this book, Nicholas. At first you will understand nothing in it -- neither you nor any other man. But one day you will see in it that which no other man will be able to see.” Nicolas stretched his hand to receive the gift but the whole scene disappeared in the light of dreams. Few days later, his dream was partly realized. One day, a poor man came into Flamel’s book shop with a manuscript hidden in covers. Nicolas welcomed him just as he would welcome any other guy trying to sell him a book. He unwrapped the manuscript and, to his surprise, it was the same book that the angel had in the dream. He immediately bought it for two florins without even bargaining. He opened the book which was very beautiful, and found out that its writer is Abraham the Jew -- prince, priest, Levite, astrologer, and philosopher. The book contained many combined ancient languages that Flamel was unable to decipher.
He decided to leave Spain back to his home where pernelle was waiting. On his way, he passed through Leon where he stopped at an inn and happened to sup at the same table as a French merchant from Boulogne, who was traveling on business. He felt like he was able to trust this merchant with his secret so he did and, to his luck, this merchant happened to know a certain Maestro Canches, an old man who lived at Leon. Nothing was easier than to introduce this Maestro Canches to Nicolas Flamel, who decided to make one more attempt before leaving Spain.

The León Cathedral, dedicated to Santa María de la Regla, was declared of Cultural Interest in 1844. It is known as the Pulchra Leonina and is a masterpiece of the Gothic style dominating the mid-13th century, by master architect Enrique. By the late 16th century it was virtually completed.

A Brain Cell is the Same as the Universe, page 1

Physicists discover that the structure of a brain cell is the same as the entire universe.

              Principle of Correspondance

There appears to be a mysterious connection between the star Sirius (the brightest star in the heavens), and planet Earth. Sirius, and our own planet are gravitationally linked, even though an enormous distance separates them. They move through space spiralling around each other in a helix pattern that resembles, mathematically, the geometry of the DNA helix. Many ancient cultures marked the helical rising of Sirius ( when Sirius rises over the horizon just before the Sun) with great ceremony, and based their calendar year on it.

An African tribe named the Dogon, who live in Mali in the former French Sudan. The Dogon were in possession of information concerning the systems of the star Sirius which was so incredible that I felt impelled to research the material. The results, in 1974, seven years later, are that I have been able to show that the information which the Dogon possess is really more than five thousand years old and was possessed by the ancient Egyptians in the pre-dynastic times before 3200B.C., from which people I show that the Dogon are partially descended culturally, and probably physically as well.

here is a nice web site giving you the history of the Caduceus and guess what:

                Origins of the Caduceus

Symbolism, as I have understood it over the years of my study, are basic images from our own natural environment, used to insight certain specific feelings in our subconscious. Symbols are repeated over and over through all the world religions and into every aspect of our daily lives.

Hermes Trismegistus brought us the message From the God’s, the Caduceus

The great teacher of the ancient Egyptians was called Thoth or Hermes Trismegistus by the Egyptians and Hermes by the Greeks and later called Mercury by the Romans. Investigators believe that it was Hermes who was known to the Jews as Enoch. The name Hermes is derived from "Herm," a form of CHiram, the Personified Universal Life Principle, generally represented by fire. The Scandinavians worshiped Hermes under the name of Odin; the Teutons as Wotan, and certain of the Oriental peoples as Buddha, or Fo. Master of all arts and sciences, perfect in all crafts, Ruler of the Three Worlds, Scribe of the Gods, and Keeper of the Books of Life, Thoth Hermes Trismegistus--the Three Times Greatest, the "First Intelligencer"--was regarded by the ancient Egyptians as the embodiment of the Universal Mind. He is generally depicted with the body of a man and the head of an ibis, because of its curious nature. He was revered through the form of the planet Mercury because this body is nearest to the SUN: Hermes of all creatures was nearest to God, and became known as the Messenger of the Gods. The Egyptians regarded him as the god of wisdom, letters, and the recording of time. It is in consequence of the great respect entertained for Hermes by the old alchemists that chemical writings were called 'hermetic,' and that the phrase 'hermetically sealed' is still in use to designate the closing of a glass vessel by fusion, after the manner of chemical manipulators. We find the same root in the hermetic medicines of Paracelsus, and the hermetic freemasonry of the Middle Ages. Of the original forty-two books of Hermes he was said to have written six books on medicine, treating of the structure of the body, and of disease, and instruments, and medicines, and about the eyes, and the last about women. There are thirty-six books containing the whole philosophy of the Egyptians, including four astrological books. Among the fragmentary writings believed to have come from the stylus of Hermes are two famous works. The first is the Emerald Tablet, and the second is the Divine Pymander, or, as it is more commonly called, The Shepherd of Men. The famous books of Hermes were doubtless compiled at different periods. He was reputed to be the first discoverer of the harmony and principle of voices or sounds, and the inventor of the musical instrument called the lyre. He taught men letters, astronomy, and the rites of religion, and who gave the instrument three tones; the treble, bass, and tenor ; the first to accord with summer, the second with winter, and the third with spring. The Egyptians likened humanity to a flock of sheep. The Supreme and Inconceivable Father was the Shepherd, and Hermes was the shepherd dog. The origin of the shepherd's crook in religious symbolism, used by the Pope today, may be traced to the Egyptian rituals. The three scepters of Egypt include the shepherd's crook, symbolizing that by virtue of the power reposing in that symbolic staff the initiated Pharaohs guided the destiny of their people.

The caduceus as I have personally seen, in its original form, in many ancient texts and carvings, had a central golden colored rod called the Sushumna representing a balance in a scale as Virgo carries. The entwining serpent on the left going counterclockwise and colored red or black is called the Ida represented the female energy. The entwining serpent on the right going clockwise and colored white is called the Pingala represented the male energy. Each of the serpents encircles the Sushumna three and a half times which adds up to seven, the number of energy centers called chakras in our human bodies. The caduceus is three dimensional not two as it is usually seen drawn on a paper or carved on a flat surface. When you look straight down on the caduceus the 2 serpents remind you of the 2 swastika’s. The "Suavastika" which Max Müller named and believes was applied to the Swastika sign, has the ends bent to the left or counterclockwise (Female sign). The Swastika, has the ends bent to the right or clockwise (Male sign).

                    • Secret Teachings of All Ages: The Life and Teachings of Thoth Hermes Trismegistus

The Life and Teachings of Thoth Hermes Trismegistus

the Light was the form of the spiritual universe and that the swirling darkness which had engulfed it represented material substance.

Then out of the imprisoned Light a mysterious and Holy Word came forth and took its stand upon the smoking waters. This Word--the Voice of the Light--rose out of the darkness as a great pillar, and the fire and the air followed after it, but the earth and the water remained unmoved below. Thus the waters of Light were divided from the waters of darkness, and from the waters of Light were formed the worlds above and from the waters of darkness were formed the worlds below. The earth and the water next mingled, becoming inseparable, and the Spiritual Word which is called Reason moved upon their surface, causing endless turmoil.

Then again was heard the voice of Poimandres, but His form was not revealed: "I Thy God am the Light and the Mind which were before substance was divided from spirit and darkness from Light. And the Word which appeared as a pillar of flame out of the darkness is the Son of God, born of the mystery of the Mind. The name of that Word is Reason. Reason is the offspring of Thought and Reason shall divide the Light from the darkness and establish Truth in the midst of the waters. Understand, O Hermes, and meditate deeply upon the mystery. That which in you sees and hears is not of the earth, but is the Word of God incarnate (Principle of Mentalism ). So it is said that Divine Light dwells in the midst of mortal darkness, and ignorance cannot divide them. The union of the Word and the Mind produces that mystery which is called Life. As the darkness without you is divided against itself, so the darkness within you is likewise divided. The Light and the fire which rise are the divine man, ascending in the path of the Word, and that which fails to ascend is the mortal man, which may not partake of immortality. Learn deeply of the Mind and its mystery, for therein lies the secret of immortality."

The Dragon again revealed its form to Hermes, and for a long time the two looked steadfastly one upon the other, eye to eye, so that Hermes trembled before the gaze of Poimandres. At the Word of the Dragon the heavens opened and the innumerable Light Powers were revealed, soaring through Cosmos on pinions of streaming fire. Hermes beheld the spirits of the stars, the celestials controlling the universe, and all those Powers which shine with the radiance of the One Fire--the glory of the Sovereign Mind. Hermes realized that the sight which he beheld was revealed to him only because Poimandres had spoken a Word. The Word was Reason, and by the Reason of the Word invisible things were made manifest. Divine Mind--the Dragon--continued its discourse:

"Before the visible universe was formed its mold was cast. This mold was called the Archetype, and this Archetype was in the Supreme Mind long before the process of creation began. Beholding the Archetypes, the Supreme Mind became enamored with Its own thought; so, taking the Word as a mighty hammer, It gouged out caverns in primordial space and cast the form of the spheres in the Archetypal mold, at the same time sowing in the newly fashioned bodies the seeds of living things. The darkness below, receiving the hammer of the Word, was fashioned into an orderly universe. The elements separated into strata and each brought forth living creatures. The Supreme Being--the Mind--male and female, brought forth the Word; and the Word, suspended between Light and darkness, was delivered of another Mind called the Workman, the Master-Builder, or the Maker of Things. (remember the legend of yin yang )

"In this manner it was accomplished, O Hermes: The Word moving like a breath through space called forth the Fire by the friction of its motion. Therefore, the Fire is called the Son of Striving. The Workman passed as a whirlwind through the universe, causing the substances to vibrate and glow with its friction, The Son of Striving thus formed Seven Governors, the Spirits of the Planets, whose orbits bounded the world; and the Seven Governors controlled the world by the mysterious power called Destiny given them by the Fiery Workman. When the Second Mind (The Workman) had organized Chaos, the Word of God rose straightway our of its prison of substance, leaving the elements without Reason, and joined Itself to the nature of the Fiery Workman. Then the Second Mind, together with the risen Word, established Itself in the midst of the universe and whirled the wheels of the Celestial Powers. This shall continue from an infinite beginning to an infinite end, for the beginning and the ending are in the same place and state.

These single-path, magical mazes are found in many places, such as
China, United States, Peru, England. The Gothic Cathedral at Chartres
has a labyrinth inlaid in the floor of the nave

                            The Labyrinth

Mazes can have more than one entrance, numerous choices of path and direction and cul-de-sacs. They are designed to pose some difficulty in finding ones way in, or out of them. The walls are usually high enough to block one from seeing the way out. Mazes are essentially a game and a test of skill.

Labyrinths: Unlike the maze the labyrinth, sometimes called a “prayer walk” is not designed to be difficult to navigate. It has only a single winding path which leads to the center and out again through a number of twists and turns, with no diverging paths or dead-ends along the way. A "circuit" describes the number of times the path circles around the center of the labyrinth. The Cretan or Classical 7-circuit labyrinth pattern is the oldest and most used of all labyrinth designs. It consists of a single path winding back and forth in a series of seven concentric rings, all the while leading to a center point.
