This energy generator idea is much different than most ideas. Before reading the rest of this article you should first read this one Wind Power Without the Blades: Big Pics : Discovery News. My idea adds a different concept to that.
First, consider this: one of the biggest renewable energy sources in Canada is Niagra Falls. Energy is harnessed from the falls using water turbines, and then sent back into the body of water. This idea is used in many places that have similar situations. So why not add a different step to the equation, one that could greatly increase the amount of energy generated?
In the article that you just read about bladeless turbines, why not turn them horizontally and places them in the falls? Or downstream a little where the current is strong? You could make rows of them, all wired together, and the facilities would be much smaller than those of the water turbines. And why not continue this idea?
In bodies of water with high currents, it would be relatively simple to place a few of these at the bottom of the body of water. If you were to place it into a river with a high current, a small generator that is, it would be just as intrusive as a rock, or a stick in the water.
And another idea. Why don't we place a few of these bladeless turbines on top of skyscrapers, or antenae towers, where the wind is strong?
Feedback would be appreciated.
