My results so far
Hi guys, I have carried out some further experiments.
I added a 1k resistor into the circuit to complete the snubber and hard wired everything which made it run more smoothly. I really want to make a video but my camera is poor quality.
So far I have lit a 3v led, 6 volt led, modified cfl, fluro tube, metal halide, high pressure sodium, neon bulb and also a xenon flash bulb.
None of the bulbs apart from the leds are full brightness.
Interesting effects are blue lightning inside the high pressure sodium, white lightning in the xenon, lots of heat from the neon.
If the right frequency and voltage were found to light up the xenon, my, my would that kick off some light. Probably enough to power the circuit itself and then some.
I'm also wondering that neon bulbs could be made to produce cheap heat.
I am awaiting some chinese analogue amp meters so I can have a clue what is going on.
Can anyone recommend a low end oscilloscope?
Also after learning some more basic electronics recently I wondered whether a circuit could be arranged so that the high frequency and high voltage is introduced into a secondary then using an LRC circuit left to oscillate to power the light. Meaning that the circuit powers the light itself, self oscillating unless the circuit is broken, but using excessively small current and HV anf HF.
