  • Hydrogen powered cell phones

My mother sent me an interesting link. I can see a lot of use for these sort of hydrogen conversion cells. Very small. They must consume very slowly, how much hydrogen can be stored in a phone? :P

Just some food for thought, check it out. http://www.physorg.com/news119544735.html

    From the article:

"Another concern about fuel cell phones is the fact that users can´t simply plug in their phones to recharge them. Rather, they´ll have to buy hydrogen fuel - meaning stores will have to sell it."

That would seem to be a rather large obstacle considering I can already plug my phone in anywhere (and start using it when it is dead, though they say not to..), or I can plug it in my car, or if I have a AA I can charge it dead smack in the middle of nowhere.

While an interesting twist, I think it might be too little, too late. I once ordered a "hobby" fuel cell. Once you own one, and you look at the cost, it quickly becomes apparent how expensive (for the output) the technology really is. With platinum as a key factor. I think it may be an example of an attempt at trying to make difficult-to-scale-and-affordable technology, do something...anything at the mass consumer level. Sure, there are geological outposts, military outposts, probably CIA outposts, even office building back-up power systems - all running on PEM fuel cells, but nobody ever said they were affordable / sensible, really...

Has anyone seen my Bedini Ceiling Fan that pushes the warm air down, and charges batteries as an added bonus? Me neither. 'Bout time I made one!!!!! :P

      Might sound nuts

      Heya kcarring.

I was having a thought about this and wanted to postulate on the idea here. A small photo voltaic solar cell along with a condenser method of drawing moisture from the air (would be too costly I'd expect), a SEC exciter or joule thief method of generating hydrogen such at this, and apply the conversion cell technology and maybe we could have free floating cell phones that just need to sit in a bright room for a while. Throw away your charger, car plug adapter as well as charging time all together perhaps??
