Hi Everybody.
This information was just posted the other day by eclipz. It was added to by a few others, but there is not much to say about it and it is now disappearing from the first page, and I think it should be near the top so many of our brilliant minds can keep "munching" on it. [So, I am posting it here.]
The idea is that photosynthesis in plants does 2 things.
This is new information.
Until only a few years ago, photosynthesis took sunlight and CO2 and a few other random things like some minerals and water to make the body of the plant and O2.
The body of the plant could turn into your body's energy or be burned now or later as fuel.
But, with the new information that Manganese as part of the (renewable) enzyme system of the plant, water is shown to be an important part of the energy production in the plant itself. So, water coming from the roots gets hydrolyzed ( think Hydroxy, or HHO )and turns into H2 as electrons and O2 as gas. The O2 is breathed out, of course, but the extra H is used for extra plant energy.
This explains why a RAIN forest is the lungs of the planet more than a regular forest with average amounts of rain.
It is the water. Water has 13 million joules per liter!
(In case you didn't realize this, the pacific northwest is a "temperate rainforest" and the cry to save the rainforest can happen right in America and not in the tropics.
I am sure there are other temperate rain forests in other parts of the globe too, not just the tropics)
The remarkable part about the way nature makes energy is that it is all done with tiny amounts of volts and mAmps.
So, repeated here are the links to some good information and videos about Dan Nocera and his group at MIT who have devised a way to use tiny amounts of electricity plus water and some photosynthetic-like reactions to make lots of joules from water.
I hope that when MIT gets the patent it will be licensed with the GNU license as they are doing with some lectures.
YouTube - Dan Nocera: Personalized Energy
This is to a different audience and at 50 minutes and beyond there is more detailed information about the Mn and the energy.
As you come across other links which might help us replicate or expand on this please post them here.
Thank you,
jeanna
