One the tests results: once a system has been cycled, Ammonia and Nitrite should always show 0 - unless you change the load by adding more fish. Once the system is cycled, most people only test for Nitrate and only test for Ammonia and Nitrite, when there is something wrong or when they add to the load.
    Savvypro,

Ya other boards that I posted this information agree with you, that my system is fully cycled, and things are functioning normally from the testing results that I posted.

I need more nutrients for the plants, so hope to get some to add to the mix soon.

I also agree that not all tests are the same. I have found wide variety of results when testing for PH with different test kits. I am very happy with the electronic one for PH, very consistant with a known PH test.

Have made some progress, and like the fact it is getting cooler here and the plants are growing / not just surviving.

            Hi Ash,

Glad you enjoy these videos. The more I look at this the more I see how far I am from my goal of 1/3 food production. Think I am going to adopt another Aussie concept of wicking grow beds. They take no energy to run, and earthworms love them.

                      Looks awesome.

how in the world does glass fish tower work? Water always seeks its own level I am wondering what do you call that? And how does that work.

                        Hi Mart,

It's very simple. Because no air can enter the top, the vacuum is stronger then the gravity.

And i've seen your blog about how to do it, pumps etc...

Just put a vase, bottle, glass, totally under water, turn it so the bottom is up, and lift it to the desired height.

                        Have fun.

                              • Hey Mart,

A question, do you still grow Duckweed?

It seems to make good fish-food, and you can even simply autofeed it. Whit a shallow tray above the fishtanks, growing the weed and skimming a little every day.

                                Peace.
