Yes, as soon as I connect the load battery, the amp draw goes up.
I am building a new circuit with a new power and trigger coil to see to compare and contrast.

There is a lot of AC in the circuit ... and you need to make sure
that it cannot JUMP, via skin effect, to places you don't want it to go.
Check for any wiring where a short could be occurring -- arcing.
Will be upgrading the electronics on mine, but first want to get the mechanics
ready......

So far have only got Rare earth magnets from old Disk drives for one.
That's 6 so far.
Just starting this one off with basics then upgrading.
When all finished , there will be total of 18 magnets and 18 Coils

Another aspect I want is the shaft from the rotor to extend out the end
of the structure. Wanting to try reed switches and mechanical heating systems
attached.

I noticed from your photo that you used hdd magnets. That will not work properly as that magnets has the north pole on the one side and the south pole on the other in it`s lenght. If you cut it in half with a thin angel grinder blade it will work. As is you will have to position your coil`s core to one of the sides to get it to work properly
Thanks for the tip, however , I tested for the North pole with a known North
pole and it appears to repel very well from one face [ which is facing outward ]
and the other face was very attracted to the North pole .

When testing , on the face which is outward, noticed that the North
pole in my hand was attracted to either end - this I found strange.
Will double check all this tomorrow , with your alert in mind - just
in case I stuffed up.

Your load battery may be bad.
I tried 2 batteries, and I know for sure that my load battery is fine. AC in the circuit?? i will check tonight and get back to you.
spinning and coil wound, this one will be only 600 turns.
See what difference that makes.
Former for coil there but wound one not shown. The wire on the
reel is 0.4 mm DIA from Microwave TX coil...yes I unwound it

I discovered that Rare Earth magnets are not ideal for the SSG unit.
I have replaced all the magnets with ceramic type ones.
Fell for the North pole detection mistake.
Did the old " North pole of earth must be a magnetic north pole " MISTAKE.....
Just found out that :
the Northern Pole of Earth is actually a South magnetic pole....
I made three units... all with South poles facing outward.
[ they all work really well , so dont know if I should worry about my mistake ].

Hey maybe because I live in the Southern Hemisphere - the ideal set-up is
South Pole outward.
- What do you recommend..?

Don't worry about the south poles facing out. As long as you wire the coils so that when it is energised the electromagnetic south pole is facing the ferrites, it will be fine. If you have wound the coils for north magnets, you will have to wind them in the opposite direction. You can't just turn them upside down. The trigger coil doesn't like it when you do that.

compass, Just start of coil is wound clockwise viewing from working end.

My Best Friend's unit has been upgraded to a two coiler.
Have probably done this wrong ..... as it doesnt seem much better than a single
coil. The electronics havent been fully mounted yet - this pic after first getting it going.

I am struggling to get any good test data because I am bringing " Dead Car
Batteries back to life ".
Keep on losing my Primary Batt voltage [ because it has very little capacity ].
So probably need to persist - bring batts up to usefullness and then do comparitive testing.

If you hook up a scope and see a h-wave with multiple spikes as opposed to one spike per "h", you have the coil wound for the opposite polarity. In this case it may just be easier to flip the magnets. All depends on how good your glue is.
It will still charge your battery, but not very well.

P.S. Your friends unit looks good. However he won't notice hardly any difference in performance if the batteries in the pic are the ones being charged. They are way to big for only 2 coils.
