  • I can't wait to hear how the more diodes work for you Joit.
I have to wait till payday on friday before i get to buy more stuff....

    • I put now 5 Diodes in Serie, because charging more Batts in Serie works for me better that way too,
lesser Amp to use, and in Serie, they maybe catch more back.
I charged now few 9v today and it looks like its minimum 5x better then before.

I think even faster switching Diodes as the 1n4004 will work better too, not sure, if Schottkys are good for it.
The 4004 is a pretty Standard one, and seems kinda hated from the Electronic Technician.

It,s and I have two types of wire, one thin and one thicker. 0.3mm and 0.6mm.
I would make a Trifilar, if you are up too.
        2 Powercoils work still better.

Btw, wich one is now Power and wich one Triger.
Allways thought, the one connected to the Base and Pot is the Trigger,
because this one triggers the Transistor.
The other Coil dont let Current through till the Transistor did not Switch.

0.6 mm are kinda Thick, i did make one with 0.5 and 0.4, still gives 1,2 Amp, but my Pot still burns trought because of the Power there.
The 0,3 is good for smaller charge maybe the better choice, if you dont wanna charge up huge Batteries.

        • Drive coil

          Hi Joit,

Thankyou for your reply. I've been thinking, and I believe I will make half the spool bifilar drive coil, the other half bifilar pickup coil...... Hopefully I will avoid lenz drag this way...

I will be switching with home made reed switches, no transistors.

          • Pots burning up

I have had pots catching fire also. I've gotten around it by getting various 5w resistors (white square wire wound ones) and connecting them in series. Then with a 12 way switch with switch points connected between resistors, you can easily adjust resistance in increments.

I have one that does 10 ohms increases up to 120 ohms, and another that does 120 ohms increases up to 1.2 k ohms..

            Hope that helps :-)

Nice idea Inquorate I have some of those will make up a switch as you said and try that along with adding more diodes to the collector side of the transistor. I'm only on page 12 of this thread so far but learning alot. Great forum guys

              • ren I see you are using 18 guage, that is much heavier than the 23 guage bendini says to use. any benefits? I ask because I have 20 guage on my power and smaller on my trigger not sure of size.

                thanks

                  • Hi Joit,
I am sorry for answering your question this late. This fan has six poles. I started with #23 wire coils, single, but it didn't work. Than I used #30, single coil, and made it after while. Set up is with 3 transistors so odd poles are power and even are trigger coils. They are CW, CCW, CW, CCW, CCW, and CCW windings. As you can see I messed up the fifth one and that's the one that causes the self-start. Even If I use just 5th and 4th or 6th it self starts. Other problem with this fan is that every coil has different inductivity. I would put as many turns as I could but only one that I measured is 4th with 400 turns, 35mH and it is the lowest value of six.

                    • Got 2 questions

                      1. when i hook up my circuit to the battery, my transistor get extremely hot! What does that mean?

                      2. I am kind of confused on the which size wire goes where. Does the 22 gauge wire connect to the battery or the 26 gauge?

                      Thanks

                      • What i ve seen so far, is either its the Frequency, what is to high, turn pot lower. But when its to low, the Runsource will go hot.
Or its to much Amps what hits the Base. #22 is thick.
Do you got a Rotor or is it Solid State?
And it doesnt matter, wich one you use to the Batterie.
Just the resistance of both Wires shoud be the same.
But i would use the #26 at the Transistor and the #22 from the Runbatterie to Collector.
But mostly i switch once, to see, wich one works better.

                        • What is the difference between solid state and rotor mode of Bedini?

                          • Solid State are ie 2 Coils, Teslacoil or Transformerlike, what start oscillationg by her own. It has no moving Parts anymore.

                              • Hi,
there is a whole Thread about it .

Jetijs did make a Good Picture of his Solid State. Post #64

And i forgot about the Bifilar Coil, of course.

Got it fixed now with the heat of the Transistor?
