Now I can't get my compass to read any magnet correctly.
Maybe the compass get magnetized? I'll let it sit for a while and see if it corrects itself.
Hi Don,
Yeah that happens sometimes but keep your compass once again close to the magnets and it will flip over again. Then check it outdoors to be sure it is directing north. It is just the tip of the needle that changed polarity.

But… thank you Don! Moving the compass from some distance (30 cm or more) towards the top or bottom from the stack will give you the north and south pole. By keeping it close to the stack while moving from top to bottom you will have always north (or south) on both ends. And that’s a misread.

It flipped back after following your instructions.
Thank you,
No measurement equipment, just feeling by touching the surface.
Your body is at 37.5 Celcius, everything around you is colder than you if the ambiant is less than 37.5C. Depending of the surface area and the material, you can feel if you touch it different temperature but its not the case.
Thank you Don! for the compass info to find the right pole configuration. Right after that I build my Kromrey together. The only thing to be done is a support for my electromotor on the top plate.
By turning the shaft by hand (and that is very slow, because there is a lot of resistance from the magnets) I did measure 2 Volts, an indication that everything is on the right spot. But I am a little anxious to start the motor on full 3000 rpm, which components will come flying out?
Here's some info I ran across that may help some it you haven't already seen it.

Their is a difference between My G-Field and Jeans, Go to My section and look at the pictures I have put up there in motors and ideas, You will see that My Machine has four poles with permeate magnets on the out side. The G-Field is a flux gate generator the curve in which it works is very important along with the windings most of these generators will at some point be 120% or better, but it must be matched to the load. It runs on a Bell Curve so You must be at the top of this curve at the correct speed, I have suggested to Jean that he uses a brushless motor and a non- magnetic shaft this is very important. the 10 inch generator on my page uses a motor that only draws 1amp or 12 watts at 12 volts the output from this proto-type generator is 14.5 volts at 5 amps = 72.5 watts, But 2.5 amps moves back inside the generator so you are left with 36.25 watts to back charge the batteries.
When building this Generator You must build it with Transformer laminations or You will have Eddie current losses in the pole pieces this will cost you 10 watts or better. The way to get the current out of the Generator ,You must"Tri-filer wind the coils" this lowers the Impedance of the coils, The coils are in series on this machine. As You can see that 1/2 the power moves back into the generator you must get this out of the coils "BY LOWERING THE COIL IMPEDANCE" and matching to the load you want to power. One more thing that I might add to are discussion is that when the G-Field is operating correctly the motor current must move down under load to 1/2 the power input, as You can see now the power input drops to 6 watts . "Ron Cole's Test were done under full DC conditions, The G-Field output "MUST BE FULLY RECTIFIED AND FILTERED TO PURE DC".
I hope You understand what I have said here, because this is why they have all failed at making this Machine.
Yes, I posted that exact quote and I'm pretty sure someone did before me. And there's those phrases again, "it must be matched to the load" and "You must be at the top of this curve at the correct speed" (emphasis mine).
Now that I've got myself a small DSO I'm going to look at the AC waveform at various RPM (on my current setup I've got a grand total of five settings) and report what I find. After that I've got one more thing to try to see if it does anything.
According to Kromrey's patent, the relationship between RPM and power output is nonlinear. Until someone does that measurement on their unit I think we're just going to continue to stumble around in the dark. Yes, I'm going to put my money where my mouth is, at least with five data points.

I've been fomulating comments to this post (seen earlier) but don't yet have the data to back myself up yet... but, can anyone point me to the picture John referenced above ? His four pole unit .

This is from the late 80's isn't it ?
