getting more out of your 3PM kit
I know there are 400 + of you out there w/ the 3PM kits who are eager to get more energy out of it, so we wanted to share our “free timing wheel “schematic”” we do not recommend using a timing wheel unless you feel you have tuned your kit to its full potential including use of the LED’s.
I’m always impressed w/ the workmanship many of you put into these machines. We have had so many experiments for different ideas and we lack the machines and wherewithal to complete such beauty, that if we were to actually create beautiful machines for each experiment we think of, we would be about a year behind where we are now. + I’m cheap – that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it :-)
For any of you who have kids, grandkids, nephews, and nieces – your mission is to make a trade w/ them. Show them how their Legos can be useful for grown-up machines and projects. The big white wheel comes from the NXT Mindstorm set. The axel comes from the same kit. We’ve used a rubber band w/ this, which also works fine for a few days.
If you have the Lego parts, caps, reeds, bearings, transistor, wood/plexy lying around, then you can slap this together fairly quickly. If not, Rick’s add on kit is only a few $ and days away.
