I truly believe if you guys want to get a better understanding how these components work build some small audio amps. Sorry to be off topic. I have the motor charging a 12 14Ah battery right now, It Is Charging Slowly but steady, its only been on for 30 min. so Ill keep you posted.

Sorry for staying off topic. I have 2 vintage Fender Bassman's, one has to be rebuilt after almost getting destroyed. Also three tonewheel Hammonds, a Les
Paul and a couple of Leslies. That was something I was always wondering about. Did John B. ever build guitar/musical instrument amps?

      RS,
See terminal 3 of the regulator, Take the regulator out and put a 2.2K resistor between terminal 3 and terminal 2 now at terminal 2 put a 15 volt Zener between terminal 2 and opposite side of the FET where Q2 is on that bus line, you can not have it at the negative of the battery.

Here is a new Sch with the changes and Zener per your edit.

The TL783 is 1.25V to 120V at 700ma, should provide enough current to pull up most Mosfet gates at 15V.

Now I need to go dig one out of my parts cabinet, and rig it up to test......

      • Iron Pyrite / Marine Zinc / Ocean salt water --Battery

        @All
I tried the Iron Pyrite with a used zinc off my boat and some pure sea water that I got at Catalina Island last summer. It worked. This battery powered my little mono pole motor.

Thanks John for suggesting a larger coil for the motor. I wound a much larger one today and the little motor ran much better.

Here is a video of the new zinc/sea water battery arrangement:

          Lidmotor,
That is good as I had boats in California, I think they mix magnesium with the zinc in that alloy. Great video with the sea water.

          • JB,

Here are 2 Sch's, One with the Zener and 2.2K resistor as i think you've described, and another with the Regulator input hook to the neg side of the charge battery and the adjust hooked to the capture cap neg, as i asked about in the first post. And back to using the sidactor to trigger the opto, as I misunderstood that in your first edit.....

Hope I got them both correct this time.............

              RS,
Sketch #2 with the Zener, Move that 2.2k off the negative of the battery and put it to the plus of the battery and it will work. You can not have anything to the negative pole of the battery with this switch except for the FET.

ok here are 2 more Sch's, they should both be correct now......

I just knew that the first Sch i posted was not biased correctly, but was not sure what it needed to correct it. and it looks like my 2nd guess was not correct eather...

Thanks RI2003, these Revisions to get it correct, should help everybody.

using lower V sidactor triggers, and opto Darlington Mosfet/transistor Pulsers, in Joule Thief and Joule Ringer applications, will make low V pulse charger apps easier to implement too.

                    Thanks again,

Hi everbody. Well if you watch these next 2 videos I have posted you can see some of the work John Bedini and I have been doing (John did the metal machine work on this). This is a 16 pole 1 and 3 coil on brass needle bearings. It is running on a 1.5 volt battery at this point. coils are in series and have 4000+ turns. Using a reed switch and LED. We will see what we can do with this. Almost looks like it may make a nice kit as well... Thanks John B. and everyone...

                            Hi John B,

I went to he crystal shop today and picked up some Iron Pyrite and also some Magnesite, which is made is made up from Magnesium and Carbonite.

Not sure if the Magnesite will work like Magnesium or not, but I'll give it a shot.

Here's a quick video of what I got.

Help Please! I would like to know do we have to match the minimum holding current of the sidac to the current that the H11d1 will dissipate across pin 1 and 2 ?

                              • Also what is the max voltage that can be put across pin 1 and 2 of the H11d1 before we let the smoke out of it ?
