Not much to tell really. There's a yahoo group called water car and being I was going to be in the Philippines I thought I might take a shot of meeting him. I contacted the moderator and after a week or so a meeting was set up. Dingel is in his 80s now and still working on things not just his water car. He was enthusiastic showing off the things he was working on but quiet when asked more pointed questions like why he wasn't promoting boosting at least in his own country and what exactly his converter was. It's a black box that sits between a type of ignition coil and his reactor. I respected his privacy. He works with simple materials obtained from junkyards and seemed fascinated with solenoid coils. I only spent a couple of hours with him; I'm reluctant to say that his car truly runs on water but there's water in the box and it turns to gas and he pipes it into the engine and the engine runs. He said that his car was using more vacuum than compression in its operation. It seems more refined and simpler now than the last video he did. He's a very simple man in my opinion who seems bitter at being unable to pass on his knowledge and benefit his people (and himself) at the same time. Anyway that was late January 2010 that I met him. Dingel and his associates were very gracious to me. I wasn't looking to screw them over either. From listening to him he was self taught and made his discoveries independent of anyone else working in the field. So if there's similarities between him and Meyer or anyone else it's coincidental.

Estafa Case:

In December 2008, Dingel became even more controversial when he was found guilty and sentenced to a maximum of 20 years imprisonment in an Estafa (swindling) case filed against him by Young and FPG. In a decision dated Dec. 9, 2008 Judge Rolando How of the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court’s Branch 257 found him guilty of taking $410,000 from FPG, saying that Dingel "defrauded Young when the inventor failed to fulfill his obligation of developing his “hydrogen reactor” and creating experimental cars in 2000." [1]

The decision has been quoted as saying:

“Mr. Dingel did not use the money for the purpose it was intended ...He excused himself from producing or developing the prototypes allegedly after entertaining the notion that his invention would be stolen. Since he thought of it, he should have returned the money to Dr. Young and told the latter to forget his invention... He did not purchase the three cars, [he] did not work on his research and [he] did not develop the invention ... Mr. Dingel’s misappropriation of the money has no doubt resulted to damage and prejudice of Dr. Young and the FPG in the sum of $380,000.” [1]
Former Philippine Solicitor General Frank Chavez, whom Dingel asked to serve as his counsel, said that he would appeal the court decision before it became final on Christmas Eve. The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Chavez said he was impressed when he rode Dingel’s Corolla. “I am taking up his case and will see to it that his conviction is reversed," the report quotes Chavez. "Mankind will benefit from his invention ... How will we know his secret if we put him behind bars?” [1]

dingel is an old stabburen man but we are working on it....
i hope he will not take his wisdom to the grave with him...
he is over 80 y.o can hardly speak or hear...
