Really, i thought piston rings and valve guides were made out of a synthetic rubber! hmm.. can anyone verify this

also i was looking at a brand new copper sparkplug, it was a champion RN12YC. but the problem is that the core is copper inside the center of the ceramic, but the tip of the spark plug is covered with some kind of anti corrosive alloy. So I tried sand blasting the coating off of the tip of the spark plug, and the coating is still there! I don't know how to take this coating off to expose the copper on the center tip of the sparkplug

        Rubber in engine?

I have rebuilt all kinds of engines from lawn mower size to big trucks and farm tractors and I can absolutely say for sure there are no rubber rings or valve guides in an engine. They would melt as soon as the engine started if you could even get enough compression to start it. Outside the engine is another story. There are lots of hoses made of rubber on older engines. These would cause some problems if you tried to run acetone through them. As far as the sparkplug you are trying to use, I have never seen a sparkplug with a copper electrode. The copper is only inside the plug to carry the current to the tip. The tip is usually an alloy of some type so that it will last when exposed to the high temperature and pressure of the combustion process. With all due respect can I suggest that you should really get some kind of education about engine mechanics if you expect to have any hope of achieving your goal. Find someone with a junk lawnmower they would give you and get a repair book and then tear the engine apart and put it back together so that it will run. This would get you the basic knowledge you need to understand engines. I wish you the best of luck in your efforts.

Just because someone disagrees with you does NOT make them your enemy. We can disagree without attacking someone.

thanks for the response. i'm glad you provided clarity on the combustion engine, i'm on to the next phase now!
