HHO EXPLOSION accident causes "DEATH"

Hi all,

As a experimentalist in many alternative energy devices "including" Oxyhydrogen ( HHO ) production, accidents can and do happen ..... but this one unfortunately caused a death.

"PLEASE BE CAREFUL" with any experiments !!!!!

A man was killed Thursday in an explosion at an alternative fuel business in a Simi Valley industrial area, about 18 months after a similar incident was reported there, officials said.

Authorities evacuated businesses within a half-mile radius of Realm Industries, 480 E. Easy Street, amid concerns of a possible second explosion.

Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Ron Oatman said firefighters responded to a police call about 1:15 p.m. The blast appeared to have caused a partial collapse and punched a hole through the building’s roof.

Local residents felt the blast that rocked buildings and vehicles blocks away. Karl Hedding, owner of Servpro, was in a building next door during the explosion and said he saw part of the roof flying in the air.

It sounded like someone dropped a freight train on the building, said truck driver Brian Westerhouse, 42, of Simi Valley. He was asleep in his truck behind the building when the explosion jolted him awake.

“I felt the rumble. It woke my heart up,” he said. “I looked up and immediately saw debris.”

The cause of the blast is under investigation. Authorities were told it was a water-based explosion, and that the company’s work involved extracting hydrogen from water to make fuel.

Thank you for the info and heads up on this. I had not heard of this happening but then again I haven't been watching much news because lately its all been "bad news."

I do know that before doing some experimenting it is so important to do as much research as possible before the attempt. I believe some people on this forum might leap before looking and thats why it was so nice of you to inform us. I understand that you are a great and long time experimentalist and even so you know there has to be precautions before starting a project.

That is indeed tragic, and our heart felt sympathy goes out to the friends and family of Mr. Larson.

We don't know the details yet of how it happened, it is implied by the article to have apparently been "pressure" related. I guess an obvious comment for replicators there is, the larger the hydroxy production system, the better the safety relief valve system must be, and these valves and venting system need to be periodically checked to insure they will work properly when needed. In a small system, over-pressure will blow a top off of a container, or pop a hose... when this happens on a larger scale, as we can see, it could easily kill.

Diesel fumes kill millions of people in cities from cancer and other diseases... a dirty little secret the mainstream media still refuses to report on. Deaths from Cancer in China have skyrocketed since pollution from cars and other sources have multiplied many times in the last 15 years... A direct correlation to the number of cars there now. Gasoline-related fires kill thousands every year in homes or in vehicles... Carbon monoxide fumes from burning fossil fuels cause thousands more deaths. Oil refineries and oil drilling rigs are some of the most dangerous jobs to have on the planet, with dozens of workers killed every year.

Gasoline is a highly volatile, poisonous, and dangerous commodity.

Perhaps if or when Hydroxy replaces it and Diesel; we can understand the dangers of it as well as we do with gasoline; and better safety regimes and more "fail-safe" devices devised so the deaths per year are much lower than the bad old days of fossil fuels... As considering the relative dangers for accidental deaths or injury by consumers or workers both should be much lower with Hydroxy, than with fossil fuels (because besides the "volatility", and "explosive" issues they have in common, fossil fuels also have the "fumes" and "poisons" issues, plus the inherent dangers of refineries and wells).

All these energy-related deaths are terrible for those who must bear them, and i am saddened by them.

Thats what happen when you find ou and is unable to control it! i aways said that, all you, need to be very careful. 1 cubic meter of h2 make big bang. And can come into your face when you hit the right setup. Not the few bubbles most are habituated to see... Unfortunately as he died he wont share his setup...

Anyway he now became what he lived and will fell complete forever.

Gasoline is HIGHLY dangerous and explosive, with 0% free Hydrogen or Oxygen content.

The fumes it gives off, either in stasis or burned, will kill unless properly vented; and Diesel fumes cause Cancer. Benzine is a major poison.

I could on and on (and often do, lol ).

But the point here is that this sad and tragic death in the Hydroxy sector is one of MILLIONS of deaths caused by "oil and coal". Like the indigenous populations of the Amazon Basin; who have been murdered and poisoned by the oil corporations who are stealing and utterly destroying their land in a real-live "Avatar" situation... Who get away with it by bribing the local officials (which is an illegal act in the US; since they are registered in the US as Corporations they are criminals who could get many years in prison for doing that alone).

As many experimenters know some times whats in a title of a patent or patent application document necessarily doesn't tell you whats in the document, this is one of those cases. The use of the manufactures name "REALM INDUSTRIES" is probably the only way of finding this PDF document, but whats inside the document is definitely worth reading on electrolyzing water as a alternative fuel source.

I do see this invention as a very risky venture and if anyone trying a "replication" of this particular device and technology, be more than "EXTREMELY" careful

Glen your a pioneer of the open source Genre, dont think your not we dont. I have used all this information in a new video production and in the PDF to warn others.

I know some one who blew up his face with 10LPM, he has recovered now, WHAT is it gonna take to get the message that with out experience and equipment people working on a limited understanding and budget should not try any thing of this magnitude. Never attempt to store the gas.Deaths and accidents will ruin it for EVERYONE. And your family.

Anyone who is producing Hydroxy gas indoors is asking for a tragic accident, unless extreme and multi-level measures are used to safeguard against the indoor release of the Hydroxy gas. Even the smallest of leaks will rise to a height at the ceiling and will accumulate there, so no leaks whatever can be tolerated. Any overpressure build up must be safely vented outdoors, using multiple devices to ensure fail-safe operation, and automatic shutdown of production should also occur under such circumstances. Multiple bubbler and flashback arrestor devices must also be employed and maintained properly. Anything short of these precautions is foolhardy. We have all seen people posting videos showing them torching hydroxy bubbles on an indoor workbench, and this is one of the most foolish practices imaginable. They think nothing of the untorched bubbles of Hydroxy that have risen and accumulated at the ceiling or roof of their workshop, and that is where the greatest danger lies. When finally ignited, they can easily kill a person and blow the roof sky high. If contemplating the storage of Hydrogen or Hydroxy, this should always be done outdoors, and there is only one way of doing this that is truly safe - metal-hydride storage tanks. The tanks are filled with granulated hydrides which soak up Hydrogen like a sponge soaks up water. They provide the safest and most efficient method possible for storing and utilizing stored Hydrogen. An incendiary bullet fired into such a tank will only cause a slight smoldering effect.

There is no substitute for safety when dealing with Hydroxy gas, or any other volatile substance. Be safe - not sorry.
