Nvisser – just a “personal view” This Amp is actually designed to go in walkie talkies, ----“ that’s its real job”, in other words it normally transmits intermittently, going “flat out” It gets a bit warmish and doesn’t like running for long periods at a time.
This guys designed a circuit that runs the amp at ˝ powers and allows it to run continuously as a linear amp and stay cool.
I would expect this module in our circuit will be fine for 15 or 20 mins use (proof of concept) If we want to go more then I’m afraid Its big bucks for a UHF linear amp.(as Mike pointed out in an earlier post)
This TX output seems to appear in a lot of amateur circuits and so is pretty tried and tested.
I guess what Mike is trying to do (and I’m doing my best to help) is try and point a way in which this can be built with a/ minimum cost and b/ without being a highly qualified RF engineer. Even so every one of these things is going to behave slightly differently as the good Dr said earlier it Isn’t possible to put component values in a circuit of this type There are just too many variables. Each step of the way has to be a compromise.
What do I plan to do? I’m going to use the Motorola because it seems to do everything we require and I’m also going to have a look about for cheapish UHF linear.

This is another way you can do this:-

First you only need one VCO @ 100-200Mhz (ZX95-200+)
followed by:-

IF amp PSA-0012+ (on board 50ohm)
Power splitter 50 ohm ZFRSC-2050. This splits off for first frequency and goes to linear amp S-AV10L or equivalent

The other output goes to a Frequency tripler (RMK-3-451+)
Then a frequency doubler /AMK-2-13+)
Then linear amp (85Y12)

All connections have to be 50 ohm coax.

Doing it this way as you tune the VCO the output will always be 6X anywhere in the frequency band

"Unfortunately you cannot configure systems with 10 Watt amplifiers using PCB mounted components. We suggest using our coaxial components to get the required performance.
For the 100 MHz system we suggest the ZX95-200+ VCO followed by the VAT-30W2 attenuator and then the ZHL-20W-13+ power amplifier.
For the 600 MHz system we suggest the ZX95-730A+ VCO followed by the VAT-20W2+ attenuator and the ZHL-20W-13+ power amplifier.
The result is not the small package as you would like to have.

If you go the way I have suggested in my last post it will be the cheapest and as I have said before, they have to be coax connected, as the engineer has said.

zrfsc 2050 power splitter

Why is this splitter so expensive. As far as I know it only contains passive components.
Mini circuits has got a PDF called "do it yourself splitters" but it is printed so small that you cannot make out much. They call it low cost splitters .
This one is only $15.45. TCP-2-10. Could it work?

Now had time to look at these circuits

Here is what I have come up with

VCO ZX95-200+ 10mw output
Buffer amp ZX60-V83+ 50mw "
Power splitter ZX10-2-12-S+
F/tripler RMK-3-451+ 16-50mw input 14dB loss
F/doubler AMK-2-13+ 10mw max input 12dB loss

The tripler and doubler do not come as coax connections but you can use
TB-393 and TB-03 @ 29.92 us each. If not then they can be mounted on one board but the board will have to be made to the right specifications and will be time and cost considerations.

Voltage control is a minor problem, I can post a circuit for that
