Faith Vs. Science

Anyone care to weigh in on which is greater, science or faith?

I've got my opinion, but will wait to see if it appeals to anyone to post theirs before I post mine. . .

Any thoughts on the topic are welcome. Of course there are no wrong answers

It's really interesting that you bring this up now. Ever since a few days ago when the private-lable site was found and all the scam accusations came up, I wanted to post about inner knowing, and I just didn't have a chance.

I've been practicing - really, really practicing listening to my gut over the past few years, and it's getting pretty good. I don't need someone else to tell me if a thing is right for me or not, I can evaluate and sense it myself by listening to my gut. I'm sure that's my personal connection to Source, and it is a certain form of faith.

To me, Science is fun and a form of the expansion that human souls come to physical in order to enjoy... but it only serves to highlight the miracles that take place in our world, constantly. The divine intellegence that makes our bodies operate is proof positive of miracles occurring every second. That our minds can actively guide the miracles brought into our experience is a natural conclusion.

So, that's my personal take - Faith and her sisters, Belief, Understanding & Trust. They are way more important than the "scientific studies" and proof that so many people seek.

So, I'm curious to read your take on it, Jessica!

Hi Jessica & Joy,

I'm in for faith, too! To limit myself & only accept those premises that science has actually "proven" to be true is really only to exist in a half life.

The more I've read & continue to read, the more I realise what I don't know & how much is out there waiting for ME to discover. I'm not waiting for science to catch up to tell me what I can I do & what I am capable of!

After all, I guess wouldn't be here on this forum & on Paths if I was waiting for science to validate the technology.

Even though science has enabled man to produce amazing discoveries, inventions & benefits I believe they all had to start with someone who had a germ of an idea, who then formed the belief that it might be possible & had the faith to perservere to try & bring it to fruition. So in my opinion it still comes back to FAITH.

Hi Jessica, Joy and Sharyn,

I love this topic! It's one I've thought about a lot over the years, being raised in a conservative Christian home, yet always encouraged to question and read and learn and grow in my understanding.

My opinion is that Faith and Science are two sides of the same coin. Neither is more important than the other. Faith vs. Skepticism might be a better way for me to define what I see as opposites. Faith is vital. It gives us hope, dreams, allows us to love and experience gratitude. Science confirms our faith and leads us to a deeper understanding of our faith and helps it grow. I'm especially excited to be learning more about the "theoretical" and cutting-edge sciences featured here on this forum because they definitely deepen my faith and love towards God and the Universe.

I think I agree with each one of you.

My thinking when I posted was that faith probably came first, and thus science is in a way an offshoot of faith.

The kind of thinking inspired by faith probably led to science eventually. . .

Now any time I am down or confused, I'm coming back to this thread to read what everyone posted to feeel that vibe some more!!!

You've just made me realise that I was thinking from a more narrow viewpoint. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of the end effect of applying scientific method, rather than science itself as a body of knowledge.

It is not science itself that is the limiting factor but rather what we as individuals do with the knowledge. For those who cannot accept the knowledge whilst it is being accrued in any given field of exploration, but rather insist on having to wait until the end of the journey when scientific method has been applied & proven it is correct or exists. So we are the limiting factor? Belief? Faith? I think I'm running around in circles here!



I think it depends on what one's definition of science is, too. I've just googled - one definition from Kids science projects, science experiments, fun easy science project ideas as below

I thought about how I have previously defined it to elemetary age students, which is that it is a very organized way of studying the universe.

One of the purposes I value is that science leads to faith in a certain sense.

That would be the faith that an airplane is safe to fly in, a bridge is safe to cross, a building is safe to enter. Faith to make certain leaps in our abilities, like using of surgery to heal disease or flying to the moon.

By careful measure of our environment we are able to better our tools, our technologies, and hopefully our lives.
