I live in Boynton Beach, FL and my name is Stu (The only name in the alphabet).
I want to use a 2,500 Watt rack mount APC Smart UPS as an pure sine wave inverter to supply power during an outage.
Large capacity UPS's employ a set of 4 batteries to supply the 48V input requirement.
There are 2 goals that I hope to achieve:
1> Using the car alternator to recharge the 48V string, I need to build a sequence switch to charge each battery separately.
2> Instead of investing hundreds of dollars in LAB's I would like to use free batteries converted to Alum.
I hope that this forum will help me with this project.
I am a 74 year old retired physicist and I offer the following video introduce myself and to to show what can be done with inexpensive parts:
Homebuilt $100 Elevator - 8 years later - YouTube
Thanks in advance for any help with my project.
