  • Hello from Wisconsin

Hi, I have been lurking on energetic forums for a long time and have enjoyed reading much of the progress in the renewable resources area and am happy I can now view files.

I have been waiting to post hoping I would get my little Imhotep Bedini SSG setup correctly and possibly construct a more informative 1st post, ah well.

    Anyway...

I have been experimenting with alum battery conversions and have some
questions before I start converting my aging electric car batteries to
alum. Mainly how do I guarantee they won't freeze I am also curious about some of their behaviors and capacity.

I was also curious what would happen if my electric car were setup with
a tesla switch concept placing a charging battery between the motor and
motive pack. I will put fairly specific information about it later but I am curious how fast it would go in a recovery mode, I assume only a few MPH.

To this end, I would like to build a solid state controller that allows independant access to each battery so it could "wire" the batteries in any order or configuration around the series wound motor, but the control aspect is what baffles me. AKA how do I setup a device to control the "mosfets firing order" My motive pack contains 9 8v trojan T875 190ahr batteries so most devices on this site would not handle it well. In a tesla switch I could either go 3 24v divisions in my pack for simplicity or setup each one individual. I already have a circuit diagram for an infinate position 3 battery setup but am clueless how I would control the switching.

Anyway I probably won't post a lot; I tend to read more than do more (I need to work on that) and I tend to be impatient. Hopefully I will make some progress here so I can become a productive member of the forums, its tough going from an infant to an aged veteran. For now I need to start working on recovering my aging batteries and building a decent pulse charger. The charger below seems like a good choice for a solid state pulse charger, no bedini, no overunity but it seems it will recover a bad battery of some size quite quickly.

    Lead Acid Battery Desulfator

Any here ever mess with it?

Sorry if I am rambling there are many things I would like to do but for now I need to settle with what I can do

Thank You For One of the Few Working Independant forums!

    Hey May!

Greetings to you from the Garden State!

Good luck with the aluminum battery with its fantastic wieght advantage over lead it would represent a quantum leap in storage battery technology

Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

When you say alum battery are you talking about the
spice or aluminum metal? I recently put alum into two
different batteries and with my limited test on them,
they charged incredibly well considering they wouldn't
charge at all before I replaced the electrolyte.

Yep I am talking LEAD with alum spice not aluminum. Why reinvent the wheel if you can make the existing one better?

Thus far I have only messed with non-functional batteries to some sucess.

I am hesitant to do expensive batteries that work at the moment but should some more of their behaviors become better understood I will go in for the plunge on all 9 big batteries.

Main interest to me is why some batteries freeze and others do not?

I have a feeling the amount of Alum along with the amount of sulphation in the battery determines how well the battery charges up and apparently the temperature to freeze goes down as the quality of the conversion goes up.

        Just a theory.
