Hey PJ, excellent work that you posted for all of the folks! As for the permeable material, I think that would be 100 % cotton that he used to wrap the copper winding as well as the Bolt to start with. You are also recommended to wrap with cotton between layers of metal windings. I really appreciate your effort above.

I've begun my attempt at replication.

Making it manifest in the physical is revealing the shortcomings of the patent description and my assumptions.

I am first limiting myself to the materials and construction clearly stated in the patent and my initial assumptions about what Nate means by words like "ordinary" "equivalent" and "similar". i.e. materials and manufactured goods that might be commonly available to a man in Murray Kentucky 100 years ago. He doesn't use the words zinc, steel, aluminum, dielectric, galvanic or capillary action, but I am an un-educated hillbilly, so at least I've got that going for me.

And, I happen to be sitting next to my brother-in-laws salt water pool with telemetry reporting SALT at 2900PPM. He's helping with the fabrication and thinks this is all really GROOVY.

Anyhoo, my first hack at it aint as pretty as Nate's drawings. It looks more like a BAGDAD BATTERY and so far it's a LOSER. I did use cotton though. I tried paper first but it kept tearing

Also, I reckon there is more left out of the drawings than just the connection between 5 and 6 (see NS2.pdf).

NS Earth Battery Replication

Hi Sigzidfit, awesome work! you are obviously one step closer to understanding how NS built his Coil. Hands on is the best teacher. Keep up the great work. I can see where it will be a problem if the windings are shorting themselves out! Maybe the next step is to keep a meter handy set on ohms scale to run a test after a few windings to make sure it is not shorting itself out but I'm sure you have figured that out.. Keep up the good work for you will succeed!

Update Garage / LED

Hi Bodkins, Sigzidfit, and All, Here is an update on the Garage / LED that I have been monitoring more closely since the LED almost went totally out and now is back up to full brightness for no apparent reason and has set a new HIGH voltage since the two previous dead conditions that this setup has experienced. Here is a list of readings after the LED was almost dead the 12th. of December and yet giving me more surprises.

12/12/08 the voltage had dropped below 2 volts.
12/13/08 Saturday morning around 8:25 am 2.05 VDC
12/13/08 Saturday 9:25 PM 2.25 VDC
12/13/08 Saturday 10:25 PM 2.35 VDC
12/13/08 Saturday 11:30 PM 2.49 VDC
12/14/08 Sunday 12:32 AM 2.63 VDC

Kingman's NS Make & Break Test Bed.

Hi All, here are a couple of pictures of what I have been working on to help facilitate a stable platform on which to perform experiments of various types and designs of the "Make and Break" devices that would work between post 5 and 6 of Nathan's Self Sustaining Induction Coil. I still have a few things to add to the test bed but it will serve me very well in being able to test different devices. I still have to create a magnet holder that will give me the flexibility to move a magnet around various places of the coil body for in previous test I have found this to be a benefit in the operation of my existing design.

Hi Bodkins and Sigzidfit, thanks for your kind words of encouragement about the test bed. I really appreciate it. I'm going to do some more mods that include a standard DC power supply with a rheostat that I can fine tune the incoming voltage below the lowest point available (1.5 VDC) on this particular adjustable power supply. I will need to be able to dial in 1/2 to 3/4 of a volt DC to be in the ball park of what the NS coil will produce on its worst day. I'm comfortable with the possibility of being able to keep the coil voltage around 1 to 1.5 volts consistently with either adding the magnesium anode or tree power to the mix. I have a tree in my back yard that is giving me almost 1 clean volt of DC. Unfortunately it is a fairly young tree but I'm also considering erecting a mast and placing a Tesla type antenna on it to up the potential between the devices. You know, put a little fun in the mix! So if you add it up, we'll have the NS earth battery + magnesium anode + Tree power + Tesla Antenna + Bullet proof make and break device and several step up coils and the possibilities are endless.
Of course my objective is to make light and heat. What more could you ask for Christmas?
