  • Emergency Battery of Value?

You tell me, I can't evaluate it for value.

I took a piece of 1" square galvanized sheet metal,
wrapped it 4 times with copper wire, wrapped that
with toilet paper, cut a piece of charcoal in half (see image),
wrapped that with a second wire, wrapped everything with
    tape and used salt water.

It would seem relatively similar results could be seen using
BBQ charcoal. Similar but possibly not the same due to a
different internal structure of my home made charcoal to that
of factory made compressed charcoal. I hope someone
could try this. I don't have BBQ charcoal or a need for some,
because it seems my home made charcoal works just fine.

This isn't anything new. Has been seen using Aluminum foil and activated carbon.
The new part is NOT using Aluminum foil (gets used up quickly) and
    store purchased carbon.

Would this power a Joule Thief circuit?
Would this power a One magnet no bearing Bedini motor?

As I said, I can't evaluate this cells worth ..
I was hoping someone of knowing could see how much power it
could produce and for how long.

HINT: use chunks of charcoal. Do not grin into power... power
produces less amps than whole pieces of charcoal does.

    Sure would it work.
Just need to make some more in Row, for enough Watts,
i did make a JT with 3~4 Magnesium-Graphit(equals Coal) Cells and light up 2 Leds for a nice Nightlight.
Theorizer are like High Voltage. A lot hot Air with no Power behind but they are the dead of applied Work and Ideas.

I got to thinking, galvanized sheet metal (GSM) is better it seems but not
available in hard times like an aluminum can is.
GSM is harder to work with which limits design usage.
So I went back to the aluminum can.
I took a 16 oz can, cut the top/bottom off, fired it to burn off the paint and
internal coating, steel wooled both inside and out.
Used four coffee filters to cover the flatten out can and cover that with
powered charcoal and placed a copper wire in the charcoal.

This was rolled up like a burrito. It has not soaked in the salt solution long
enough yet to be saturated, that might take a couple hours yet.

Metering both volts and amps at the same time I'm reading 0.103 v and 31.6 milliamps.
Both the volts and amps are rising as they are being metered and
that's why I say the cell is not saturated yet.

After I typed the paragraph above the meters are now reading 0.104 v and 31.9 ma

You can't tell what is going to happen. When just metering the volts only,
the voltage was dropping until I metered both volts and amps and then they both started climbing.. Whatever.

          Cotton has a self-ignition point of about 407 degrees C or764 degrees F.
You will need to consider the reflectivity of the surface you are trying to heat and the rate of dissipation of the heat generated by the absorbed light. You need to focus down to a smaller aperture to make it hotter. The size of your mag glass may not focus that small.
If you look into a red lens flashlight you will see green.
