Can you post the consumption with 3V source to fully lit LED?Originally posted by mikrovolt View PostI designed this oscillator originally for a single cell led light.
It can be powered by 3V source or 0.7V
I can see that some of you might use it as a frequency source
and amplify and reshape sine to suit your needs.
it can tolerate difference in source voltage and is very efficient.
it uses less than a milliamp.
the frequency is changed by L1 and L2. where L2= L1/3
there should be some coil winding calculator apps online.

Is there benefit of using it backward?
Interesting info with headache. I don't do joule thief anymore also because of that reason. Interestingly, Jeanna get opposite result with her Joule Thief.

Hey thank you for the circuit! Are L1 and L2 air core or on rods?Originally posted by mikrovolt View PostI designed this oscillator originally for a single cell led light.

Jt Rf
I think every high freq circuit emit RF.

when i first made it i used it for triggering small fets with a double A battery..
if you want you can get sine wave- spikes- ramped out were you are tapping..
but with a small inductor on the battery side then its a led driver.. lol
but you are right.. the freq is pretty sable as the volts drop..the reason i called it the backwards jt is cause it works best with a bifilar coil and one transistor.. and with one tweak to your circuit you can run a battery down to 0.1 volts.. using a 2n3055
i wasn't flaming you at all.. sorry
i won't post here in this thread no more..
later dude

Low Saturation Vbe(sat)
RE:

search words
Low Saturation Vbe(sat) germanium transistors low voltage
Noteworthy: While most of us don't use our batteries down to the very last.
Kooler has found a way and posted a link in the previous post he calls backward joule thief. thankyou

I have started over with another oscillator that may be easier to build.
It is a colpitt running at 50Khz, I will take the design to second stage
transistor this is a module that can be modified for wide range of frequencies and can last long time on low voltage. Hopefully to interface a narrow pulse output. I am hopeful that the electromagnetic components will be recycled and remain inside shielding leaving only very very little RF harmonics as a good neighbor policy. much less than a television gives off.
The direction of the project.
I am beginning to think that bifiliar coils and narrow pulse are doing more than conventional textbooks teach. Possibly as an attribute of replicating
the exact wave on the second coil under the right conditions that another form of electricity may be available as a radiant form as some projects are beginning to show.
I will be posting the colpitt here were other can find easily find it.
I will name it shooting star.

Simple Colpitts Oscillator
this is the colpitts circuit
The frequency is determined by L1
feel free to comment

This is flat bifiliar coil I am posting it is not part of the circuit above. The flat coil is constructed from the center counterclockwise.

This is a calculator for a single flat coil.
Flat spiral coil design calculator
This is an explanation of the original. There is some easy math that someone could follow.
Patent 512,340
I started with 3.5 inch inside diameter and 32 Turns. awg#36 or .005 inches, the spacing (relax the design)
Check with an LCR meter may need to take a bit off to adjust uH.
For lower frequency add more turns. it is the neutralizing effect and the added capacity that is quite remarkable.
For over 100 years engineers have preffered the less efficient design.Last edited by mikrovolt; 01-26-2011, 03:54 AM.
