We are still working soldering the SS board over the Christmas break as announced my friend nothing new till its finished and tested . We are going for a heater application as its the quickest.

Guys our very own Sean (open source engineer clanzer)has given me a PM to say an independent SS test has been successful. Wont spoil the details check it out Divert

we did get results that appeared to demonstrate OU

Look for the Phil Watson update,Phil is a member of the SKBD who has been featured in their video's over the years. Looks like our soldering is finally done just need to wind and tune the coils now. I admire Phil,it took a lot of time to get this tests done,this thing takes time

When you go read the post from Phil he very clearly (for the electrically minded) states that the orbo effect is basically a measurement error.

Hi Red, Phil says Steorns measurement method that he tested did not show any thing significant- But NOT HIS,he has some thing which HE reported in HIS version

I still think the best thing to do is build a heater or any application THEN measure it. Forget scopes i think we are past that.

Hi Mark, thats the Steorn evaluation board which 3 SKBD members have confirmed a 3-1 measurement. Its NOT AN APPLICATION JUST A BOARD TO PUT ON A SCOPE, OURS IS NOT That was in the Video, its plug in and play. Okay here is how the thread i got notified read:

Hi Ash,

I read the technical on Phil's Blog, the integration showed less energy out than in.

The appearance of OU was attributed to applying the wrong current value at the load. Apparently there are two different currents involved here but he does not specifically address the real issue.

Kirchhoff state's that the current around a closed loop must be the same every where and so it is easy to simply take a current reading anywhere in the loop and figure it applies to all components in the loop. So L1, the Load Resistor and the Diode should all be experiencing the same current.

However, as Professor Lewin so eloquently explains in this video YouTube - M.I.T.-Walter Lewin- Complete Breakdown of Intuition - Part1 there is a condition where Kirchhoff's Law simply breaks down and the loop can actually have two independent currents.

Here is a simple rule to keep in mind: If there is a dynamic magnetic field, then the field is no longer conservative.

What that means is that while the magnetic field is in transition, it is not conservative and Kirchhoff's Law does not apply. So we get two currents, one for the load and one for the inductor and they will not be equal.

The bottom line is, in order to know the output energy in the load, you must measure it at the load.
